Everyone celebrates differently. In my house with a mixture of Jew and Christmas.... I put up a tree, lights, and I give gifts. One tradition that was started many years ago, at least one gift has to be a novelty or gag gift. Gifts are placed under the tree after all children are confirmed to be in their own bed and asleep.
Your turn....
The two traditions we held to for as long as possible were, on Christmas Eve, the reading of 'The Night Before Christmas' to children and/or grandchildren along with the opening of any gifts that had come in the mail. As with your family, all other gifts were placed under the tree only after they were all asleep. We also shared hot chocolate and cookies during/after the reading of that classic tale.
