Except for those that died in their sleep, we have always been there when the time came. somehow the dogs tell us that they want the struggle to be over, the pain is too great, the fun is all gone. The couple that had bone cancer (a major problem with giant breeds)have been the worst because to look at them you would not know anything was wrong. They just did not want to be touched and screamed when the affected area was touched. Then they look up and say, in their own way "Please end the pain to keep me in this state is you being selfish not loving me, so do the right thing." Since there have always been dogs, up to 6 at a time, in our lives, saying goodby is just part of our responsibility, but it is still a horribly tough decision.

I agree, we must accept the responsibility of doing what is best for our little furry loved ones. We had 2 Shih Tzus before Charlie. Tiny Dog and Rudy❤️❤️ Tiny Dog had to be put down when she got to the point where she was in too much pain! It was really hard to tell her goodby. She was very small and soooo pretty and sweet. Rudy died in my arms. He would let me hold him like a baby and rock him asleep! He was Jack's most favorite Dog!!! I was glad my husband was at work when Rudy died because he had a very difficult death. Needless to say, I cried like a baby. I pray my Charlie will just go to sleep beside me. I can't imagine not having a pet to love! There has never been a time in my life that I didn't have one.... or two.... or three LOL!!!!! I even had 2 hens that went walking with me! They were both named Baby!!!
