There is a war on superstitious beliefs including the religious, but not in the way these guys understand it. Progress marches on, in science and technology, and the insistance on adherence to ancient beliefs and religious strictures leaves many at odds with actual present day reality.
The cartoon, while snarky, does capture the root of some of that fear.

Christians that actually study or have scholarly pastors/churches are aware that the Earth is millions if not billions of years in the making.
They would be aware that the Bible only covers approximately 6,000 years.
Adam and Eve on. The lineage and the prophesies of the coming of the Messiah/Christ. The lineage of the different peoples is also covered.

While I find that many posters maintain varying combinations of veracity and b.s., I find that some maintain a higher level of the former than others. As such, with everyone's comments, I cut through the chaff and cling to what is of significance to me and set aside the rest for further thought. I do believe that, without harm, ALL contribute to whatever topic the discourse covers. In any discussion, one can only bring harm to themselves voluntarily through the duly/unduly allowed influence of others. Each of us makes our own decisions as to the path we follow. Too many OPP'ers likely decide (in their mind) that others too ignorant to align with their thoughts on any given matter are "a lost cause."

There are many things that don't make sense to our finite minds. That being one of them, those who choose to believe the literal translation do so through faith. Faith in the end being the important factor. I believe such questions will one day be answered. In the meantime, it is mostly our children who will do the hiring, as they run the businesses.

I'm doing okay, Sing, although I spent much of the last 36 hours dealing with my cousin's falling down in her backyard and breaking her hip, pelvic and femur bones. Her surgery yesterday late afternoon went very well, and she will soon begin her recovery therapy. I arrived back home mid-evening last night and got some much-needed rest. Always interesting to read the exchanges on this thread.
You may note that I had to go back and re-enter my post just above, as it did not take due to some screw-up of mine.
