Uhhh right. I can't top minus 52. Back in 1993-94 was the coldest I went through. We only hit 22 below and I cried. For 2-3 months it was well below freezing, usually below zero and would warm up into the teens to snow and then go back below zero again. The snow never melted. We had a lot of roof collapses. After that winter I had to get my main sewer line replaced because the ground froze hard enough to crack it. It was down 3 feet. In the next few years many of my neighbors had to replace their lines too. I think they blamed that winter on Mt Pinatubo in the Philippines.
Do you mean that if I came down there and bought a round, you could not find me a bar stool ? You guys must be rich.

Okay. If you say so. I'll just stay in my toasty, roasty house with the fireplace going, sipping on hot tea, cherry coffee, and an occasional peppermint pattie. Oh...who am I trying to kid...sure you don't have room for one more Yankee at the bar? lol

During my winter excursion in South Korea,during the winter of 74-75,I Was leading an Ammunition Depot inspection team,We had a brand new Dodge Carryall,to use,We left the DMZ for Seoul,The dodge started with the first turn of the key,BUT,it had NYLON tires,it took us 9 hours to get to Seoul,because the tires never got warm enough to eliminate the flat spot,We rolled up paper,to put in our mouth,so we wouldnt break our teeth,the truck could only be driven MAYBE 3-4 MPH,Ruum BAM, rrumBam,Ruum bam,the Ruum sound was when the tires made about 3/4 of a turn,The bam,was when it hit the flat spot,At 52 below zero,the hair in your nose,freezes into needles. I retired,rather than fight another korean winter.

I thank you for the invitation. I was never in the service. One of my many brothers was in the Air force and served in South Korea around 1978. He said it was cold on the flight line and complained about the low pay.

Unfortunately, I'll have to weather it out this winter. Lj and I are planning a Thelma and Louise trip this summer. And it is going to be Awesome! But, you never know about next winter. Yes...Im in the northwest corner just 50 miles from the MN border...so with that wind, it's enough to freeze off your skin. I have pto days built up for just that reason. Check the weather..too cold....nope...not leaving the house. lol
And don't you dare rub it in how warm it is down there.

Hi Kankune,I didnt realize you lived that close to gods icebox ( minnesota) Hoping your LJ and your vacation,doesnt turn out like the movie, stay warm up there,I would not brag about our weather to you (its kinda cold here too,60 degrees),,

Boat..60 degrees and I presume sunshine. That sounds awesome. It has been really nice up here so far. Sweatshirt and jeans weather. But.....its just teasing us. This time of year ...tomorrow could be 6-12 and 50 mile an hour winds. Snowmobiles, filled freezers, fireplaces, and a generator or two come in real handy.
No..no..no! We're going to have a great time, but driving off cliffs is not part of it. Hah
