I hope you're talking about the neighborhood and not the County. Hey boys, the deer up there are huge and have 1/2" of fat on them. Where abouts Up State. I grew up in the Finger Lakes region, 12 miles south of Auburn. Mike

Tell you what. You boys make your way up to the Adirondacks. In My neighborhood, they dont allow hunting, we are overrun by deer. I go out in my backyard and jump up and down and make an ass of myself to get them out of my garden, to no avail. So anyway , you come uphere with something quiet, like a bow, II'll set you up with food and beer and lodging for a week, you could go home with 20 just sitting on my front deck.

Its a neighborhood, ten miles from Lake Placid. Ausable Acres, about 50 percent of us live here year round, other homes are seasonal and rentals. In allowing the deer population to get out of control, we now have quite a coyote population as nature tries to restore balance.

When I was eighteen, I was a supervisor on a construction site in charge of building a golf course in Westchester.
Every morning when I went out to groom the fairways that we had finished, there were herds of deer sleeping
on the outskirts of the fairways. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to hunt them, and they new it!

Yes ours have no fear, and the dogs ignore them as well.

It looked like the meat was marinated in red wine. I have a receipt that calls for that for several days with herbs and then use the marinate to make a gravy. Is delicious and no gamy taste. Yours does look great but I need some onions too. Haven't shot anything in about 4 years as I'm too lazy to drag them out but now after seeing your stew, something is in trouble this weekend. Mike

I slowed cooked along time, yea the meat did look like you thought tho. I added a sliced honey crisp apple for 2 days and that really took almost all the gaminess out of it. I'm not a big onion fan but I do like the flavor, they are toxic to dogs so I went with the soup mix. It's just me an Lobo here so I consider my little buddy when cooking-no fun to eat alone.

Never heard that onions are toxic to dogs, even cooked?
