In vain they worship
In Matthew 15:8 & 9 and Mark 7:6 &7, Jesus quotes Isaiah 29:13. But He adds the words, “in vain they worship”. Worship without obedience is a waste of time. In these lessons, the Sanhedrin finds fault with Jesus’ disciples for not washing their hands before they ate. Jesus faults them for following the traditions of men, which make the word of God have no effect. It doesn’t matter how well you sing or dance, adultery will destroy your marriage.
