While advertised as a place for intelligent political discussion OPP is anything but. The majority of OPP visitors are fiercely disgruntled fringe right wingers of average intelligence. You will find that the majority of posts are reiteration of long disproved conspiracy theory's laced with fire and brimstone religious dogma and seasoned with a heavy dose of racism and homophobia. a small portion of posters are progressives who with varying degrees of effectiveness point out the really agregious lies and falsehoods or the discredited sources of the nonsense that has been posted. The reaction of the various, Birchers, Klansmen, snake handlers and other assorted peckerwoods is pretty predictable when their pissing and moaning is disproven with truth and fact. This is where the fun begins!  It becomes hissy-fit time when with grand false bravado they spit out fantasies about taking up arms against the government, seceding from the union, impeaching the president, deporting the immigrants and sending blacks to Africa. Schoolyard taunts and insults fly as any small semblance of reason these folks contain is replaced by hateful rage.  Wether you are commuting to work on the subway or sitting down to drop that morning deuce use your smartphone and take a shot! trust me it is more entertaining than another bout of angry birds, besides a few of these folks may actually learn something.

I see our official purveyor of selective moral outrage has weighed in. He is quite careful to avoid any mention of his own and other Liberals' egregious and frequently puerile insults. He is rapidly becoming a contender for Horse's Ass of the Year. His opinions which are frequently offered as fact are another source of entertainment that is just now being fully appreciated. He has yet to realize that condescension and arrogance cannot camouflage the abysmal ignorance, appalling stupidity, and tenuous grasp of reality he exhibits in his pronunciamentos. You see, I am one of those ignorant ne'er do wells who dares to disagree with his parochial and hypocritical point of view.
He is an annoying little midge who aspires to become a full-fledged gadfly.

This reply is a great illustration of my earlier point. This guy chooses to steal the image of a cartoon cherictor to represent himself and it is more accurate than he likely realizes. While looking for a more worthy adversary to Buggs Bunny Warner Brothers decided on a tiny man with a larger than life voice, essentially an impotent blowhard; Yosemite Sam. A whole lot of Napolianic hootin hollerin and foot stompin, along with brandishing pistols to create an image. Not to mention those Brokeback Mountain chaps, but I digress. Impotency and blind rage are the driving forces behind most OPP posters. By the way Yosemite Sam never prevails over his nemesis and dies a number of deaths only to return again and again learning nothing from his past failings. Could there be a more fitting avatar?

Pretty accurate assessment. The degree of far right desperation is actually encouraging. It let's mainstream America know that the far right is losing the culture war.

Must be a bitch for the far right to know that the White House isn't lilly-white anymore; that the people in charge prefer diplomacy to a hot war; that their neighbors smoke pot; that young women and minorities remain "uppity"; and they can't even get the red state governments to uphold their right to gay-bash.
