Wow, that was a smart thing to do! Never happen this day and age.
I bought gas,in Fort Lauderdale in 1953,for 11.9 cents,unless there was a gas war,then the price was as low as 9.9 cents a gallon,in Japan (on base) gas was 6.9 cents a gallon.
Think back to what you earned as wages in the 1950-60 era. Average worker's wage was $5,000 per year. What are you earning now?
Now how many gallons of gas did that wage by then and how many now?
