Recently, I posted my thoughts regarding Harvey Wienstine, and other sexual harassment suits brought against the rich and powerful. I indicated it's all about the money. While I didn't receive a lot of flack for the comments, I made, I did, however, receive one particular rebuttal that was, in my opinion, an indirect defense of the love he holds for his wife, thru sixty years together.

I admire a commitment of that length. However, I still think it's about the money. Sitting with my wife this morning, at the local restaurant, waiting for our breakfast order, I was watching the thread slowly move across the bottom of the television screen when something came across mentioning Bill O'Riley's 32 million settlement for sexual harassment charges.

I thought to my self, as I visualized 32 million dollars, what that kind of money could do if used as a contribution to an array of charities. I also thought, if these women initiating the lawsuits would announce their intention to donate the money, it would, perhaps, seem that they really care about the issue of women being sexually harassed in the workplace.

One settlement for 32 million? That is one heap of harassing or a damned good lawyer. Donations would be nice but I think the most significant part of those settlements is the pain the abuser feels when he realizes that his victim walked away with a settlement far out of proportion to the damage he did. Payback, as they say, is a bitch.

And the women,who took that money,took a BIG payoff to keep their mouths shut,same as a prostitute. heck,shes laughing all the way to the bank.

That 32 million went to one woman, and that was to keep him out of jail since he raped her and she had proof.

Moldy, I'd have to see proof that O'Riley raped this person. However, it appears, if true, for all the bluster about sexual assault and harassment, women will trade their virtue for cash.

Still, I'm no attorney, but if this woman was raped, where are the criminal charges? A crime is a crime in the eyes of the law; the law often intervenes, regardless of the victim's wishes. Well, let me rephrase that: The law is the law, unless, one is a corrupt bigwig politician.
