You're in a fertility clinic. Why isn't important. The fire alarm goes off. You run for the exit. As you run down this hallway, you hear a child screaming from behind a door. You throw open the door and find a five-year-old child crying for help. They're in one corner of the room. In the other corner, you spot a frozen container labeled "1000 Viable Human Embryos." The smoke is rising. You start to choke. You know you can grab one or the other, but not both before you succumb to smoke inhalation and die, saving no one.Do you A) save the child, or B) save the thousand embryos? There is no "C." "C" means you all die.

I'm interested in your thoughts.

I don’t think you will get many responses.

make 2 trips, save them both, you ain't alone in there, get another to help carry one or the other with you, why can't the childs parent handle the kid? the kid didn't drive himself ya know, much less leave him unattended.....simple.......a loaded question gets a loaded answer.

You are not allowed to change the parameters of the question, because then it is a different situation.

It is simple, requiring only a choice of option A, B or C. Are you saying you choose C?

Try again. So far, your indecision has killed you, a five year old and 1000 embryos.

I guess "why" isn't important because that eliminates the question about why a 5 year old child is in a fertility clinic?

Willy is right. It's a loaded question. A set up.

How's that toenail fungus doing? Still keeping it at bay? Winter is coming soon. Take good care of your feet so you can own next flip flop season like a boss!πŸ˜†

Why, exactly, do you say this is a loaded question?

because you are setting people up to let one or the other die as posed in your question.....it's a no win for pro lifers and you very well know that.

I do not recall any rules associated with the question.....you are now changing the parameters, rules are usually stated up front, not after the game begins.

Explain how you see it as a set up?

Yes, winter is coming. The Wall will be rebuilt and The Night King will pay for it!

Because you're putting the life of a child up against the life of multiple other children. It's a no winner. A set up.

You are the one advocating for changing the scenario. Why is that?

Original parameters:
...... you can grab one or the other, but not both before you succumb to smoke inhalation and die, saving no one.Do you A) save the child, or B) save the thousand embryos? There is no "C." "C" means you all die.

It IS, like many real life situations, a forced choice between a rock and a hard place. Real life kinda choices are often no winners.

So you choose to save the 1000 embryos?

If you honestly valued each one of them in exactly the same way you would a living child, its a no brainer.

I found a way to grab them all, please excuse my critical thinking.....you gave options, but left out any other plausible scenarios....why are you wanting kids to die so badly? I know....to get a pro lifer to make the decision to let kids die...how nice of you.

again....loaded question...and you know it

Actualy it very clearly points out that equating unviable embryos with a child is asinine. Anyone would grab the child but to admit so deprives the anti choice zealots of the ability to fallaciously claim that a microscopic blob of cells is the same as a 5 year old child.
