This viral email has been burning up people’s inboxes. It announces a national Veteran’s Day weekend boycott of the NFL in a powerful way.
The email is unedited and not currently traced to an original source.

This forward is how the American Legion and the VFW are getting the word out. Will other American organizations follow with their membership?

You graduated high school in 2011. Your teenage years were a struggle. You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate. Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best. The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football. Your best friend was just like you, except he didn’t play football. Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage. You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best. They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey D’s. College was not an option for him. On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter. You went to summer workouts. He went to basic training.
You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans. Tutors attended to your every academic need. You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard. You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country. Your best friend was assigned to the 101stAirborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice. He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did. He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American’s give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.

You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts. You hired an agent and waited for draft day. You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million although you had never played a single down of professional football. Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.
You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach. He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers. You will sleep at the Ritz. He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep. You will “make it rain” in the club. He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 120 degrees.
On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name.. For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week. There are no adoring fans. There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to rest. He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV. When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television. While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.
To the players of the NFL: We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys. We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you. We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth. We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right. But now you have gone too far… You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country. I am done with NFL football and encourage all like minded Americans to boycott the NFL as well.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS – National boycott of the NFL for Sunday November 12th, Veterans Day Weekend. Boycott all football telecast, all fans, all ticket holders, stay away from attending any games, let them play to empty stadiums. Pass this post along to all your friends and family. Honor our military, some of whom come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

My Cowboys, although playing without a defense, also have orders proclaiming that kneeling will get you benched or fired. That being said, I'm still not going to use anything from any sponsor of the league at this point. I might watch some games but I'll not use the sponsors products. If everyone would vow to do that, the sponsors would fold it all up, ratings or not.

Thanks for posting this one. I cried most of the time I was reading it and could only see the "big do" of Colin Kapaernick while reading it. I am so tired of these people getting by with this crap but unless my team, the KC Chiefs, lose between now and the assigned day I will watch them play. I haven't watched anyone else play this year but will stay with them unless more than the two who have held up their right fists do so between now and then.

I am so tired of these men getting by with their kneeling and fist holding up and think it is time for them to do what Mike Ditka suggested they do and that would be go to some other country to play. Of course, there is no other country for them to go to. We should find a way, other than boycotting them, to convince them that what they are doing is wrong and that it must stop.

Great post, and thanks again.

Since we have no TV reception, it has been a quarter century since we watched a football game. while others are glued to their TV, we are out walking in the woods, playing with the dogs or just sitting on the front porch watching the deer and the piliated woodpeckers, and thanking the Good Lord for our health and our friends. So, go ahead and get worked up over a silly game or come join us, in spirit, and celebrate the world that God has given us to enjoy.

Another way we are alike. Of course, my team, the Chiefs, is the only undefeated team in the league up to now and I will watch them every game they play since they are playing so well. They do have two players who have done "nasty" things that don't support our nation but they can be stopped since they are young ones. I have watched only Chiefs games up to now. I was close to watching the Cowboys and Packers when I remembered that Jerry Jones knelt with arms linked with players before the Anthem was played. That told me too much about him.

I watch one NFL game every week and have for years. That game has the KC Chiefs as one of the teams and I don't have any problems with not watching any other teams play unless the Chiefs are on the field with them.

I am so glad that I have TV because I have to see the Kansas Jayhawks play every game they play. I guess when the FBI proves that Adidas is paying part of the coach's salary of over $3 million I may give some thought of not watching them. I never watch anythng on TV other than those two teams, Fox News and GNS so I have come to where I can't stand to watch all the bloody scenes of network TV.

I think that was Jerry trying to keep his team together. He appreciates protest as free speech but is against any protest during the anthem. I'm fine with that. They get their attention and they don't disrespect the flag or the country. Who knows what his actual views are, but I doubt they actually exceed his desire to win another Superbowl. It would have been interesting had one of the superstars done it against his wishes.

On almost 100 acres in the mountains of West Virginia. Great neighbors who raise goats and chickens and from whom we get milk and eggs, our own over 2 acre vegetable garden that provides food for us and the neighbors. While right now we have 15 dogs, normally it is just 3. We have 12 Florida dogs we are taking care of until their owners get back here after repairing their house and kennel. Wonderful little church not far away and a lot of peace and quiet. After all the slogan for West Virginia is "Almost Heaven"

The chiefs are my team as well. Like you, I hate to see Peters, Houston, and the new running back (what's his name), disgrace the flag, I swore to defend in 1977. I will participate in the boycott on Veterans day. Goodell needs to be fired.
