Are you taking Omega 3? Also known as fish oil, it is an essential nutrient. You should be taking capsules with 500 mg DHA/EPA twice a day.

Read more about just how important this is.

O3 is not new and in fact there are better supplements available depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

Omega 3 is not fish oil. It is a fatty acid found in fish oil and there are actually 11 types of Omega 3s.

Don't be fooled by advertising hype. For one, look into Krill oil and compare, but as in all use of any supplement, know what you are taking and why. Nothing is a broad spectrum one size fits all.

You need to know for sure if your body has less than optimum whatever you are taking because if it does not, you will be wasting money and could be overloading. Usually any excess is urinated out.

When you take Omega 3, you are actually taking one or more of 11 fatty acids and those 11 are not equal.

Do you know if your body is low on fatty acids and if so, which ones? Are they the ones you get in your brand of O3?

It is not a good idea to blindly suggest that anyone take any supplement without knowing if they need it and why.

It depends on what you are treating. You don't just take some supplement because a commercial told you to take it.

You need to have a condition that you are treating, then research all supplements and compare. You don't guess. There can be down sides to taking things your body doesn't need.

Then there is the issue of how these supplements are processed and what from. The cheaper ones generally are processed in a manner that weakens them and can render them useless.

Then you are on the right track.but there may be more for you. It depends on the cause of your elevated BP.

Look into garlic and niacin. They are vasodialtors that have a powerful impact on blood pressure. Especially niacin. There are garlic capsules that dissolve in the small intestine therefore don't make your breath stink.

Niacin can cause a flush response in theraputic doses much like a sunburn. Very uncomfortable. There are niacins buffered with inositol etc that allow threaputic doses without the flush response. I have seen significant results in as little as 2 weeks once therapeutic dosage has been attained.

Garlic and niacin both cause the smooth muscle of the vascular wall to relax and that allows the blood vessel to enlarge somewhat, which in turn lowers the pressure within the blood vessel. It is like changing to a bigger hose but not turning up the water flow.. Same amount of fluid and a bigger hose, drops pressure.

Ask your Dr. if there is any reason not to take a mild naturally occurring vasodialator. There are some contraindications such as a history of blood clots.

Look into Krill Oil. Also Green or Red Algae.

There are many supplements that can lower blood pressure and what you take will depend on what is causing you BP to be too high.

when I was a kid it was pretty normal to get dosed weekly with cod liver oil. When you would burp it tasted like tinned sardines. I always was told it was to keep you from getting bound up. Pretty nasty stuff.

I've been taking 3-4 capsules (1000 mg. each) of flax seed oil every single day for 30 years and I'm now 73 with no sign of hardening or clogging of arteries, and have perfect cholesterol levels. When I told a cardiac surgeon friend this he scoffed at the idea. My response to him was: I truly believe that it works and it would not change my mind even if you could show me proof to the contrary. Whether it works because it works or does not work is irrelevant. My true belief that it works is the reason it works. This is also known as mind over matter.

The trick is to choose the best supplement to treat the cause. There can be many causatives for a single condition and while there may be many potential supplements that can be used, there may be few or perhaps only one that directly impacts the specific causative.

This is why what works for one person may not work for another. Of the many potential supplements that treat high blood pressure, there may be only one that treats a person's root cause, and the next peeson may have high BP but a completely different cause.

There is no one size fits all.

And processing will differ from one manufacturer to another as well as purity and strength.

For instance: Candida albicans is the cause of yeast infection in the urinary tract. Caprylic Acid is deadly to Candida. Caprylic is found in cranberry. A naturally processed Caprylic, meaning extracted at room temp. and standard pressure, is a powerful treatment for yeast infection. Most outlets sell cranberry pills but do not list Caprylic in the ingredients.

One must research to know the differences.

My mom did the cod liver oil too, which, I think the phrase "gag me with a spoon" came from.

I am aware of an extremely effective supplement used to treat a combination of PMS and urinary yeast infection. It was manufactured in California and standardized, meaning each pill was the same strength as each other pill in the bottle. You would be suprised how often pi ll strength varies within one bottle.

Being as it happened in California, a state with more than its share of screwballs, a man, while being drunk, swallowed the better part of an entire month's supply all at once. It didn't matter to him that it treated two problems associated with females, not males..

He became ill with a sour stomach and nausea. Nothing more. The supplement contained Capryllic Acid and obviously too much of an acid would cause enteric discomfort.

This guy knew someone who knew someone and after a time, the manufacturer was threatened with a lawsuit, resulting in the withdrawal of the supplement from the marketplace and the discontinuation of the product.

An excellent product that served many ladies for years, gone because someone thought if it doesn't require an Rx, it is a joke. Only in CA.
