This goes out to Peewee, Theophilus & all who call The Catholic Church The Whore of Babylon,

Each & every last one of you is a religious & intellectual whore. You take exception to this? Tough.

And if you go to any church (a big if, since no decent church would tolerate you) and your if pastor calls The Catholic Church 'The whore of Babylon,' then he is just as much of a whore as any of you.

Since you mentioned ' Babylon', what's your evaluation of Mystery Babylon referred to in the Bible.
Some think perhaps Saudi Arabia.
Just throwing the question out...(:

In Luke 12:32 GOD calls his church a "little flock". Since the Catholic church clearly boasts of more members than any other calling themselves Christian you have a problem with "little". You have a physical leader, "pope" who walks around with a fish head on top of his head and you don't think you're deceived? I could write volumes on what is wrong with that church, but why bother. I just gave you the most profound truth that most never talk about and I'll leave it at that. The majority are always wrong; it's always a tiny few who get it right. History repeats itself over and over because the majority never learn from it.

Nope. I cannot lay claim to being a deep Bible student or even a deep Catholic but I am committed to my religion and become incensed at what some on OPP have written about it. I do agree with you though, the older I get the more I need to study & research The Bible.

A fish head on top of his head. Now, in all of the observations about The Church, I'm not familiar with that one.

Profound truth? Try this one one for size. The Catholic Church has, far & away, the longest history, far longer than the oldest non-Catholic tradition, the Lutheran so our dogma has a more formidable history of distillation of its ideas by a factor of about 4. The Baptist started in the New World as did a many other.

Deception? I think that people like Theophilus and you are more likely deceived. And BTW, let's see what you have to say about God & Jesus.
To which tradition do you adhere? Awfully easy to throw stones,

that applies in any "church" or group of people,,, not just catholic,,,,,

There are SOOOOO many people,, who sit in the pews,,,, even play the organ,,,,, who never get the "message"
most likely because they are not seeking it.... they think they already have it, have it by just being there, or are just "good people".........

My Ex-mother in law,,, was the organ "grinder" at a church ,,,,,, she thought that put her somewhere above the "flock",,,, sort of management,,,, and her job???? to tell others what to do, and determine who and more importantly who 'was not" a good christian,,,, her,,, of course, being the measuring stick,,,,,,,,,,,

"That" is why people never get it,,,, they are not really there to seek god,, godliness, nor fellowship,,,, they are there for purely human reasons............. not godly reasons.......

I am really not aware of a Mystery Babylon. Maybe it's just another of those biblical mysteries, such as the exact location of The Garden of Eden from where Cain went to The Land of Nod, to the East of Eden.

You know, you struck a note with me on that one. I was brought up Southern Baptist. Our small church was across the street from St Salome Catholic Church, a large church with a grammar school. Many of my closest friends were Catholic. As children you are what your parents bring you up to be. I was a Baptist. Our minister used to spend at least 10 minutes every Sunday berating the church across the street. "They drink beer in the basement" The raffle off cars" and on and on. It really made me angry. I never understood why he did this. The odds were zero that any of us were going to defect to the Catholic Church. Was our minister so unsure of himself that he had to prove to himself every Sunday that we were a better faith? We attended that church to hear the minister preach our faith, not try to destroy the one across the street. I never understood why my parents didn't find another church.

Ironic Don, that all these supposed Christians, who always exclaim that Catholics do not adhere to the Bible, which the Catholics were the ones who put the Bible together, but these supposed Christians ignore what Jesus said in the Bible when He told Peter that he would be the "Rock of His church", and down through time there has been a direct descendency of Peter's position in the Catholic Church, that existed for over 1,500 years before the first Protestant Church was started. The Luthern Church was the first Christian church, other than the Catholic Church, started by a Catholic priest name Martin Luther in Germany about the year of 1517, who threw 7 books out of the Bible, declaring that they could not be authenticated, but the discovery of the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' in 1967 authenticated 6 of those books, yet the Protestants have not added them back into their Bible, a copy of the original Catholic Bible, but 7 books short.

The shame of all this is that we now have many Christian religions, the oldest being the Catholic religion by 1,500 years, and they are all run by men, who are all sinners, and in every one of these Christian religions there have been some in charge who have sinned at one time or another, most knowingly and on purpose, and this includes the Catholic religion, as all of them have through their competition with other Christian religions, to fill their pews in their churches. This is what is really behind those who call the Catholic Church the "Whore of Babylon", which is a knowing and purposeful lie, and sin against what Jesus said in the Bible about the "Rock of His church", Peter. They also ignore what Jesus told His Apostles when they came to Him and said that there were others that were healing people and driving out demons in His name, and should they stop them from doing those things, as Jesus then declared that no they shouldn't, because if they were not against Him, then they were with Him, as every Christian religion surely is, and because what Jesus said here, should stop all of the Christian religions today from attacking each other.

GOD did not create religions or traditions, but instead man has, in order to try to control others. I would hope by the time we become elders, if we have read and contemplated our Bibles, we should all have recognized by now that Jesus was condemned and put to death because He kept violating the Jews' religious rules and traditions, that were the livelyhood of the clergy, as they also are today. The Pharisees wanted to keep that soft and plush life style that their religious rules and traditions provided for them, and knew they had to kill Jesus to do that, before He violated and destroyed all their religious rules and traditions.

The problem today is that when someone in charge of any religion tells his followers a lie and sin against things said in the Bible, that have been exposed earlier in this posted comment, they accept and do it because of what Christians are taught about being obedient to authority, never understanding what Peter and the Apostles tried to teach us all in the Bible in the book of Acts: Ch.5, Vs.29, that we must obey the higher authority as Peter and the Apostles addressed the Jerusalem Sanhedrin and it's Head Priest, who was the leader of the Judaic religion, just as the Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, as is written, "But Peter and the Apostles said in reply, 'We must obey GOD rather than men'," when they were given this order by the Jerusalem Sanhedrin and Chief Priest, "We gave you strict orders (did we not?) to stop teaching in that name (Jesus). Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and want to bring this man's (Jesus) blood upon us." In the 'Old Testament' of the Bible GOD Himself teaches the same in the story about the widow with 7 sons, who were all tortured to death for refusing to obey the King, who ordered them to do things that were aginst their religious beliefs that were order by GOD according to Moses' laws.

So now you should judge all these comments, and those who are making them, by what it says in your Bible, and who these people and their comments are obedient to, what GOD says in the Bible, or what their religious leaders tell them, that may go against what is said in the Bible. But especially remember 3 things; That GOD did not create religions and traditions, but men have in order to control other men; That all men are sinners, even those that head up different Christian religions; And that GOD demands us to obey the higher authority, and there is no higher authority than GOD the Father, His Son our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

I was only in the Army National Guard for a few years so I can't say Semper FI.

The Baptist religion was founded in Rhode Island by Roger Williams. The first Baptist Church in America is a downtown landmark in Providence. Today, RI is the most heavily Catholic state in the country, yet it continues to elect pro-abortion Democrats. I spnt more of my life in RI than in any other state.

Baptists were among the strongest driving forces for anti-Catholicism for years but that seems to have mellowed. I work with a woman who is very strongly Catholic and she & I both seem to recall that one of the prominent Protestant evangelists, I think it was Jerry Falwell told his followers to get over their hostility to The Catholic Church because what was happening to us, would soon happen to them. We have been in the very forefront of the pro-life movement.

If the secularists defeat & destroy us, they've taken out their biggest foe. People like Peewee, Theophilus should realize it. Instead, all they do is heap abuse on us.

I have only skin read this but from what I can see, it is true. Point being, that we are all sinners by fact of being human. The Catholic Church is administered by Fallen Men. They fall short of the ideal. The Church has as its mission, providing the path for all the fallen to salvation. Popes regularly confess their sins and ask for forgiveness.

All men are sinners, but what GOD wants and expects are repentant sinners, who make an attempt to not sin again, which leaves out homosexuals, and why GOD defined them as an abomination. Being a Catholic myself, I have learned that there is a Catholic Church, the people, and a Catholic religion, that is the hierarchy of those who run and administer the Church (the people), but sometimes it's leaders violate what GOD's words in the Bible teaches us, as also has happened in all Christian religions, and by all their administers at one time or another. These are undoubtably the exceptions, not the rule, because most are pious people trying to fulfill GOD's will, but some, a very few, are not, and only look out for their best interest in how they lead the people that they pastor, as this happens in all of the Christian religions, because they are all run by men, who are inheritantly sinners. But what GOD and His Son Jesus, as well as the Holy Spirit desires from all of us is to use His gifts of a free will and discernment, to decide who to obey, why and when you should obey them, and read your Bible to understand what authority you should obey first and last, the highest authority according to GOD's words. But always remember and take into consideration in whatever you say or do, that the Church are all of GOD's people, not any particular Christian religion.

How can you be committed to your religion if you are are not a deep bible student or a deep Catholic? You're problem is that you're committed to religion and not Jesus.
