when one passes... it is painful. I will not recommend that you get another dog immediately, take your time but do consider adopting one in the future. None will replace your family member, but they can share your life. Wipe the tears and remember her as she was healthy and happy to be sharing your life.

I had a good friend in Sheridan, Wyoming who was a vet. When our 16 year old Cocker died he took my wife aside and told her that she make certain we get another dog right away because, hard as it may seem, that it the best thing to do to fill that empty spot in your heart seeking to fill the lost need to give love. Two weeks after Morgan passed away we have a new rescue dog in our home. It was hard to do at first. Rescue dogs are so grateful to have a new secure home and a sense of being loved and returning love. The loss of Morgan is still raw but our new girl, Zoe, helps so much. Zoe is a Greek word for "life" and she has added a new life for a couple of old folks. I sent the above article to my wife after I read it and tears flowed down her cheeks too. Life goes on but losing a loving dog is so hard for most of us who care deeply for them. My brother told me once that he wished there was such a thing as reincarnation because he would choose to come back as my dog. I am confident loving pets will be in heaven because love emanates from only one source and love never fails.

Pa, I didn't read what you posted so I wouldn't lose it completely. Knew where it was going and having been there many times before I didn't want to think of those I've buried. I have been more upset over losing pets (family to me) than some actual family members, the pets and I were closer and more into each others lives.

For those who don't think that pets and other animals don't go to heaven tell me why GOD would have Noah and family put so many on the Ark. We are ALL GOD's creatures.

Pa, talk to your kids about getting another dog. It can extend your life and your happiness. If you do, make arrangements for the pet in case something happens to you. Thanks, Mike
