Sounds Like "The King"...

I will never understand why any vocalist would attempt imitation of another vocalist, regardless of how famous he was. I believe that if someone has a good voice, he should pursue his own style. It's OK to be referenced as having a voice similar to the others'.
I am aware that there was a large number of contests based on who could imitate THE KING but this prevents the newer vocalist from ever sounding like himself. A contest presented for the purpose of locating a duplicate of a famous voice removes the new one on the scene from developing his own style.
When I entered the scene of professional Flamenco dance, I did NOT wish to hear "you dance like (whomever)." I studied and worked with other dancers so that I could glean from them and create my own style. I also resent anyone who would describe my dancing as "nice."
Those of you who have "talent" blow me away, I have none other than I can walk and chew gum at the same time now that I'm sober...
I'm in awe of the folks who can sing, play instruments and yes dance (nice or other wise)...
Growing up in Oakland Bay Area During The Rhythm & Blues, Rock & Roll Period of The 1950's & Early 1960's I Could do the limited dancing that we kids did, but to say I could dance compared to what I think you did, well I could "walk" while you "ran" I'm guessing...
I enjoy being entertained by those who can do "they're thing"...
So keep dancing and I'm keep being entertained... Don D.
