Let's see, one liberal "news" source referencing another liberal news source to attack a Republican Governor.

How credible can that be?

I did a little history check, which everyone should do before placing blame.

North Carolina governors since the Civil War:

1865 - 1868 Conservative
1868 - 1877 Rep
1877 - 1897 Dem
1897 - 1901 Rep
1901 - 1973 Dem
1973 - 1977 Rep
1977 - 1985 Dem
1985 - 1993 Rep
1993 - 2013 Dem
2013 - Current Rep

Number by party:

Conservative party: 1 total of 4 years
Republican Party: 7 total of 21 years
Democrat Party: 27 total of 125 years

Prior to McCrory's taking office, Democrats held the office for 20 years.
Now, you are expecting the Republican in his first year to correct all the problems left over from 20 years of Democrat leadership. A little unreasonable, don't you think?

Some things to consider from the linked article:
1. The referenced settlement was done in July 2013. Knowing the speed with which government agencies conduct their studies and investigations, those first two spills occurred during the term of the previous Governor, a Democrat. Probably before McCrory was elected.
2. The DENR probably was and still is staffed by persons put there under a Dem Gov.
3. Note also that in the current situation, the incident occurred on Feb 2, today is Feb 14. In less than two week after the incident, under the current "evil" Republican Governor, the DENR is already back in court asking that the prior settlement be delayed so that possible modifications can be made to reflect this new development.
4. Why didn't the Democrat Governor, or the two before her, fix the problem? They had 20 years to work on it.
5. Based on a historical review which shows a 77% domination of the Governor's office by Democrats over the last 150 years, the citizens of North Carolina should already be lining up to vote for him in 2016.
6. I noticed also that the article doesn't give any information concerning who gave how much to the Democrat candidate who opposed McCrory. I think we should know what HE "owes" and to whom he owes it.

GO PAT!!!

I think the real scandal is the NC environmental people told the residents around the Dan river that their water was safe to drink and it turns out a few days later that its not safe to shower with let alone drink... McCrory was trying to sweep this whole spill under the rug ... This is a scam.. the fact that duke power makes billions in profits and leaves a environmental mess behind without any plan to clean it up . may be good for stock holders but its hurting the people who live here.

Please note my reply to the original post:
All this "mess" developed under the "watchful eyes" of Democrat governors.

This has Nothing to do with previous governor, this has to do with the present, " A PIPE BROKE" This has to do with information being withheld from public, allowing people to drink and bath extremely toxic water until four days later and Mac Cory stated the water was OK to drink.

It is astounding these politicians get such loyalty from people who don't give a damn about their fellow americans, or the environment. I can't help but wonder what goes on in their heads when they contemplate and weigh hmm,... doing massive harm...vs... political corruption by politicians and corporations. Party stance should not matter here.

Also the News and Observer very reputable paper and is the second largest distributed paper in NC.

Some more interesting info....Date on which an attorney with the Waterkeeper Alliance, a clean-water advocacy group, discovered an ongoing leak of coal ash into the Dan River from Duke Energy's ash pit upstream of where this month's massive spill occurred: 2/6/2014

Number of times the arsenic concentration in the newly discovered leak exceeds the human health standard: 18

Date on which DENR officials denied knowledge of any ongoing leaks at the site when questioned at a public meeting in Danville, Va., a city that draws its drinking water from the river: 2/11/2014
Here is some more on McCrory gutting the DENR.....http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/04/30/2860925/denrs-new-mission-takes-wrong.html

Just another Republican who allowed corporations to use the state as a toilet in exchange for a rather paltry bribe, nothing new it is just difficult to understand why people elect bottom feeders of this ilk when they know what they are going to get.

Probably because they are so sick of the scum sucking democraps.

Do you have a credible source? This "news" organisation appears to be set up to attack Gov. McCrory, as 90% pf their articles are hit pieces on him. We now have to throw put everything you have posted. Then we can begin to look for the truth.

OK. Now you have sourced your lunacy at two left wing, nut job web sites. You are too stupid to understand the point. Let me try to be so crystal clear you can even understand it.

In order to be credible, you must source real, credible sources. If you wish to be credible, you can not use left wing, wacko opinion websites. Could you provide a credible, real source?

Don't blame emarine, the Observer is all in an uproar over the governor and criticizing his environmental record over this coal ash spill and accusing him of being soft on utilities that he has contributions and ties to yet, the Observer is the one's that endorsed him.

To the extent this state has been gerrymandered it would not make any difference ... this is a one party state now and we are starting to see how well it works
