Diversity isn't necessary. Acceptence of diversity is.

For years I've read so much from the left demanding diversity. Why? Diversity for diversity's sake proves nothing, gains nothing and has led to a more divided society then the so called diverse utopia.

Diversity has been forced onto many organizations and government entities for tens of years and the result has been less production and less quality and America falling behind many other countries in virtually every category.

Every attempt to hire should be only the best, or hurt your own business. Simple fact. But if some minority shows up, and qualifies, that minority should be hired and welcomed for the job that person is expected to do. And that person better perform, just like any other person on the job and not be expected to whine every time that person is criticized or fired because that person didn't get the job done to expectations. No protections for minority status. Do you damn job. And everyone else on the job should be expected to welcome that person like any other person and help them acclimate to the job and working conditions or you can be fired for helping to create a hostile work place and hurt overall productivity.

I belong to an organization that is virtually 100% white. We have an annual convention with between 500 and 1000 normal attendance. The last time I saw a person of African descent at our convention was in the early seventies. We had one South East Asian this year. We have worldwide attendance and everyone respects them and embraces their attendance and the diversity they offer. But no one is special. I have never seen a single person that I would think is the slightest bit prejudiced or would discriminate. Membership is mostly by email at your own discretion. No one knows your race or has ever been turned down. Pay your dues and you're a member. Simple. But new members of any nationality or race would be welcome. Diversity isn't necessary, but you would be welcome if you came around. That decision is yours. We also are mostly male, well over 95%, and most female attendance is someone's wife. But in about 45 years we had three women rise to lead the organization, far exceeding their ratio. And they were widely accepted for their leadership, not their sex.

I belong to another organization that is also mostly white male, but welcoming of women and any other minority. Again, just show up and you are welcomed and treated equally. You'd have to commit a crime to get thrown out. But we don't actively recruit for diversity, we accept it.

Every minority has to show that they are not just welcome, but would be a welcome productive member of the community, or job site, or school, etc. Act like you want to belong, and try to fit in instead standing out and demanding special privileges. Perform on your own merits and earn acceptance by trying to work with others and even the most difficult person can learn to accept you for who and what you are, as long as you are part of the team and trying to fit in.

That even works on OPP if you try to fit in and discuss issues reasonably based on logic and courtesy without all of the cheap slurs and quit seeking fights and stunts to provoke others. Try it.

cheers
