Your comment about getting rid of books reminds me of a quote I read once. "Beware of those who would deny you access to information. For in their hearts they dream themselves your master."

Louie27,
You're letting your imagination get the best of you regarding the removal of the Washington and Lincoln monuments. Take a "chill-pill."

Also, I listen very well. Thank you for your concern regarding my hearing, though.

True, Trumpet has disavowed those groups and people you mentioned. Too bad that his disavowals came 2 DAYS after he said or did nothing after the actions. Even Trumpet's own wife beat him to condemn the Reich-wingers' hateful march. Then, recently, for him to claim that there were some "good people" among the Reich-wingers only turned up the flames higher against him. Even leaders in his own party have said he needs to change how he does things. Even Senator Corker (R-TN) said, today, that Trumpet needed to start showing some moral leadership if he expects people to want to work with him. That's surprising coming from Corker! Corker was someone Trumpet leaned on heavily for info on foreign relations and even considered him for his VP. Corker turned him down.

What you seem not to hear is what those Reich-wingers believe and espouse is a complete and total contradiction to what America is all about. They want an all-white country. They want to deport any and all people who aren't as white as they see themselves to be. They are anti-Semitic. Some were on TV saying that "... all Jews must be killed!" They are believers in a movement that would destroy us as a country. If anyone is anti-American, it's the people who espouse and practice the tenets of their creed. They and their ilk are domestic terrorists.

These people you're defending the actions of went to Charlottesville spoiling for a fight. Why else would they come equipped with semi-automatic rifles, body armor, shields, clubs, sticks, and carrying Nazi and Confederate Battle flags? Not to mention shouting some of the worst and repugnant epithets one could say about another human being. Sure, some of the counter-protestors fought with the Reich-wingers. While they do have a right to "free speech," it only goes so far. It is illegal to shout "FIRE" in a crowded building. Other than being outside, there wasn't much difference between the two. The Reich-wingers who showed-up in Charlottesville were every bit as incinerary in their speech and actions. Had I been there, I probably would've fought the Reich-wingers, too.

The Reich-wingers don't give a flip about history. Most couldn't tell you the first thing about the Articles of Confederation, beyond giving you a blank stare. All they wanted to do was cause trouble. They knew their presence would bring about counter-protests. They wanted a fight. Again, why show-up dressed in battle gear and armed to the teeth unless you think there's going to be a fight? No, it's you who doesn't listen.

As to the Dems being associated with the Communist Party, who, exactly, told you that? Was it someone with strong GOPTP connections? They must see you as a very gullible person. FYI, the Democratic Party hasn't been infiltrated by the Communists, nor do they accept any endorsements from the Communist Party. Whoever said that is lying to you; pure and simple. Add to that, as an example, the rumor that the Communist Party endorsed HRC, in last year's election, was debunked last year. Look it up for yourself.

And, now, for Trumpet to try to place those who protested against the immorality of these
Reich-wingers and say that the counter-protestors were just as much at fault, as you're saying, too, goes totally against what our country was founded on. Many of our ancestors came here to escape persecution for their religious beliefs, or their skin color, or their language. Our own Founding Documents claim that, "... ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL." Is it, now, that we must accept that some people believe that they're more equal than some else because of their skin color, religion, or language? If you believe that, you're just as sick as they are. If you don't believe as they do, I apologize for that remark.

I challenge you to visit the web sites of some of the groups who protested against the removal of the monuments. You might be surprised at just how sickening the beliefs of these people are. Then, tell me if you still support them.

Finally, you need to realize that these monuments represent more than just "a time in our history." These monuments represent a continued adherence to the social and political values of that time. They represent a desire of some to return to the time of slavery. Of a weak Federal government. Of sectionalism.

While the argument of "heritage not hate" may have traction in some circles, overall, the monuments are a reflection "hate not heritage." We need to remove any vestiges of our time of disunity. We need to instead, focus on how we can better ourselves as a united peoples. Continual reminders in the form of these monuments only breeds a desire to return to those days, for some. Those days are long gone. What good could be draw from returning to those days? Personally, I can't see the first one.

I do not remember the situation but Obama came out and said something on the line of it was regrettable that this occurred but held judgement of who caused the problem until there is an investigation. How is that any different than what Trump said.
Also those on the side of BLM and Antifa had clubs and helmets also. That proves they were there for a fight. I still have not made up my mind who started the altercation. I saw a person on the side of the anti protesters use something like a blowtorch to attack another person. Also have seen people with insignia pertaining to the racist white supremacism group that attacked others. Whether weapons, such as guns were there, I did not see them but believe they were there. The only reason these monuments bring up the past is because some have brought up their children to believe whites are evil people and the south persists in that direction. That is only a supposition on my part. I have know many blacks during my school years and later in life and none tended to lean in that direction. I hope that was true. I know blacks now and none of them seem to be in that state of mind. The only blacks I have a distaste for are the ones that cause riots and disruptions of every ones lives that have no skin in this game. I also do not want us to return to the days of discrimination and division of this country. We all need to move past discriminations and move forward toward a better life for all.
