Mark chapter 5
Verse 1
A similar miracle is in Matthew 8:28 - 34. There are some minor differences. In Matthew, the event occurs in the land of the Gergesenes.
Verse 2 - 20
In Matthew, two men come out of the tombs, and there is no mention of the men being bound. A Roman legion contained between 5,000 and 6,000 soldiers. Jesus didn’t know the man had so many demons by observation. In all cases Jesus is asked to leave the city. The problem is that these countries have many demons looking for a host. The pigs are dead.
Verse 21 - 24
A similar account is in Matthew 9:18 & 19, but there are some differences. In Matthew the girl is already dead. In Mark and Luke, the rulers name Jairus is given, and the girl is dying but not dead.
Verse 25 - 34
There is something important about the number twelve. A similar account is given in Matthew 9:20 - 22, but there are some differences. In Matthew Jesus sees the woman. In Mark and Luke Jesus asks, “who touched me”?
Verse 35 - 37
This account is in Mark and Luke but not in Matthew
Verse 38 - 43
From here to the end all accounts are similar, except in Mark and Luke the girl is given some food.
