The 22 million number

This is a portion from an aggregated article.

A few weeks ago, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow was going on and on about a "single insurance provider" that pays for 49 percent of all births, as well as full health care costs of almost 40 percent of all children in the United States. This single "insurer," Maddow said, was the biggest "health insurance provider in the country by a mile."

Maddow was talking about Medicaid, which, of course, is not "insurance" but "welfare."

When we're allowed to call things whatever we want in order to win an argument, there is a total breakdown in democratic politics, fair commerce and social interaction.

Thus, for example, until we get our terms straight, Americans will be forced to keep paying through the nose whenever they try to buy actual health insurance -- because they aren't buying health insurance; they're paying for other people's welfare. Washington will never be able to make it legal to sell real health insurance -- because, if they try, the welfare recipients will mob congressional offices claiming that Republicans are murdering them.

There is no truth in any discussion of Obamacare. Currently, the most persistent lie is the claim that -- according to scoring by the CBO! -- 22 million Americans would "lose" their health insurance under the Senate health care bill. Turn on the TV right now and you'll hear someone saying this.

"A new (CBO) budget score said 22 million more Americans would lose health coverage under this plan ..."

-- Poppy Harlow, CNN, June 27, 2017

"A score from the Congressional Budget Office ... said the Republican bill to kill Obamacare would kick 22 million Americans off their health insurance."

-- Rachel Maddow, June 27, 2017
"The clock is ticking on the Senate health care bill as the CBO estimates 22 million people will lose their insurance."

-- Chris Hayes, June 26, 2017

HELLO? REPUBLICANS? ANY OF YOU GUYS WANT TO REBUT THAT? IT'S PRETTY EASY TO DO!

The actual CBO report says nothing of the sort. People citing the "22 million" figure didn't read past the CBO's headline-grabbing paragraph at the top of the "Summary" page.

In fact, the CBO merely estimates that -- in the year 2026 -- 22 million Americans who otherwise would have been forced by the Obamacare penalty to buy health insurance will choose not to buy insurance once the penalty is gone. By "people thrown off their health insurance," liberals mean: "people who voluntarily decide not to have health insurance." (More accurately, "people who choose not to prove to the government that they have health insurance.")

CBO reports require focus to delve through. Very often the real facts are buried.

I appreciate the facts. Thank you. However; I guarantee the liberals here on OPP won't care. Facts never enter into their thinking process.

"Lefty," JF, has an aversion to "facts." It's their radical, now gone fascist, rioting, vandalizing, looting, burning, "PIG" killing, murder-inciting protests and obnoxious and fruitless (D)emonstration, to force a POTUS "(D)O-OVER," or (D)estroy our 21st century Western free-market Elective Constitutional Republic; or both. It's their job. Hummmm. What IS that "crushing" noise I keep hearing? What you've said is correct. There are millions of young healthy men and women who do not want to be included in health insurance. They've saved money instead of paying premiums. They don't get sick unless in an accident but usually car accidents they are covered by car insurance accident policy.

Problems with ObamaCare is that all illegal aliens are covered including Muslim terrorists, rapists, thugs on the streets who don't want to work, burglars, robbers, rioters, millions of illegal Mexican who make many and deliver many babies. In fact there is a hospital in California where the patients are illegal mostly Mexican women delivering babies. You will also find these people in grocery stores, buying bunch of junk foods with their food stamps card. Many of them are obese, thus costing the taxpayers more for their healthcare.

Gays/Lesbians are also covered by ObamaCare to have their sexual part of their bodies changed to women, from men, or to men from women.

This is the kind of healthcare that democrats provide by requiring hard working taxpayers to pay for their sexual desires. It is filthy lifestyle. I don't want to live close by these people. It makes me throw up. DISGUSTING!!

The so called fascist is supposedly a right wing thing, by definition. The fascists of today have no nationalism in their agenda. But instead are using forcible suppression of opposition, control of commerce and industry. That is what is going on at this time by the left and its allies such as George Soros and Obama. Obama has even met with some world leaders and to my recollection that is not what a former President has or should do by undermining the sitting President with foreign powers.

CBO estimates are notoriously wrong because they are static. They only can project numbers given to them at the time. For instance if you reduce taxes CBO will correctly show a loss of government revenue. They don't take into account that if the GDP increases dramatically that more people working ends up producing more tax revenue even with a lower tax base.

22 million people who can not,(or will not) work and get the free handout. must be nice. us old folks are still paying like we have all of our lives.with a total single payer system would bring the highest taxes in the universe. worse than the scandanavian countries. then the country would surely be financially broken. too many people simply not working that are able.
