Senator Rand Paul says he and his wife are on Obamacare and he says its terrible. What does he mean?
What does Senator Rand Paul mean when he says that he and his wife are on Obamacare? A private citizen doesn't have to purchase health insurance through a state's health insurance marketplace, unless they are eligible for a subsidy and want to receive one. A private citizen can pick up the phone and call any health insurer and get a health insurance policy outside the marketplace system. Most states have tons of companies selling policies in the state. Since the passage of Obamacare the Pauls can't be denied health insurance coverage. All this makes me wonder why Senator Paul says he and his wife are "on Obamacare". I don't believe the Senator and his wife are buying health insurance through a state insurance marketplace in order to obtain a subsidy. Does anyone know why he says he is "on Obamacare".?
