Peskov said it was “absurd” to discuss who “won” the talks in Germany, where Russia and the US agreed to a ceasefire in three zones in Syria. Putin and Trump also discussed Ukraine, cybercrime, and, of course, allegations of Russia’s meddling in last year’s US presidential election.
“We can now confidently declare that this was a win-win encounter,” said Peskov.

That being said, why do we still need to think of Russia as a mortal enemy? It is us who have been heavily involved in forcing our way of life on others. We are the ultimate pot trying to call a kettle black. Putin wants security for his nation. He has his views of how to achieve that and it's not through regime changing tactics. He supports stable governments while we manipulate events, lie about events and try to sway populations to adopt our western way of life.
As long as we do the underhanded things we do, Putin will always think of us as a threat where as we have little reason to think of him as a threat.
