Howdy...

Signed up for this because I thought it would be a different forum for discussing politics; however, seems it's the same old tired arguments....at least based on the first few "forum" topics I selected.

If someone can please share a topic thread that truly is based on intelligent and rational discussion rather than race-hatred, anti-illegal hysteria, political bias, I'd sure appreciate seeing, reading and being part of it.

Thanks.

You can determine if it is what you are looking for, but try: 'Doing a user-managed site'. They are looking for more input from people such as yourself. Also, 'Right Wing Extremism In Politics'.

In any event, Welcome aboard, TannerTime!

Good luck.

What is rational to one maybe very left or right to another. No matter there you go people disagree but in time you'll know those here and how they feel.

Any topic being discussed contains bias, otherwise, it is simply an echo chamber. I would be interested in your definition of "anti-illegal hysteria." What would you offer as an alternative? Pro-illegal rationality?

CDM is right. Start one. You might be surprised. You are not the first to come onboard of late to express their dismay. Who knows, you "might" start a trend. If nothing else, it might be an interesting challenge to try and reframe what even the most outlandish of posts state
into something lucid to mirror back to them with actual FACTS. Consider it a "public" community service. By the way, welcome. Hope you'll stick around.

You come very close to the point of so much of what goes on here. Discussing politics is only part of it. More importantly, many here talk intelligently (and some not so much) about what politics is doing to us; making people aware of the danger of apathy and unequivocal acceptance or if your a Hope-and-Changer, how close Valhalla is.

In the 2012 elections almost 5 million people who did not like Obama and did not want to see him elected again stayed home and did not vote. Why? Well, they didn't like the other guy so much either so why vote at all, was the attitude. If we behave this way again in 2014 and 2016 the republic will transform before our eyes to a state many Americans fear.

Obviously people come to sites like these to attempt to change minds and many to simply aggravate the other side. Both a waste of time. Much of the discussion here however is intended to a) inform like-thinking people so their vote will be most effective and b) to influence potentially like-minded people or those on the fence with no developed, hard position and c) to instill the idea that staying home on voting day will get you screwed in the long run regardless your point of view.

By the way, what's going on today because of politics has gone on because of politics since man came down out of the trees (that comment will draw heat, you watch). It's always going to come back to man controlling man and for that matter every thing else around him.

There are a bazillion (a great G.W. Bush word) subjects that reflect what's happening in your life and how you are affected by our evolving society. And they all make for great debate. Be guaranteed though, they will always come full circle to expose some political influence.

I am reading a book JOHN ADAMS by David Mc Cullough. This stuff has been going on for over 200 years, not much has changed. The wheels of government grind slow but fine. I repeat myself, isn't it odd that the population is almost divided evenly 47%-47%? That must be a good deal.
