changing of the guard

It is with mixed feelings that I update my avatar. A final goodbye to my greatly missed Wilhelm Von der Meyer. A welcome
to a beautiful new baby that my daughter has dubbed, Leif Erickson. I think I read somewhere on this forum, that it was George Carlin
that said "life is a series of dogs" and for me, this has been very true. Linked to every stage and major and minor event in my life
thus far, there has been a dog. And so when they pass, it is not just their loss, but the passing of a season in our lives. A reminder of our own mortality. Heres to all the dogs that stood guard and thank you, God, for dogs

How sad and clean life would be without them.

Sorry for your loss of Wilhelm, alas we all shall pass. Very glad for your new addition. Spoil little Leif for four months, enjoy the puppy and then train the dog the way you want it. I envy your location as I grew up for a time in the Finger Lakes region and love everything except the winters now. Mike

Yes, winters are hard, and without end it seems. I work out of my home and spend alot of time alone. My dogs are my coworkers and company , through those long months. Summers are wonderful, can't wait to take the puppy swimming and show him off in Lake Placid, its a very doggie town.
