I have really come to like General John Kelly and believe he makes a lot of sense. He is also having considerable success on the border. Here's his take on why Obama's and the Left's open borders really don't make that much sense. See below:

Hispanics vote Democratic. That is why Democrats favor open borders, and why they oppose voter ID. When Reagan signed the amnesty in the eighties, Hispanics, (who were the overwhelming beneficiaries of that legislation,) showed their gratitude by voting nearly 75% for Democrats.

What's so bizarre is that they left Mexico because of lack of opportunity and government corruption, then through their actions and voting habits, they are voting for more of the the same!

Islam is a tyrannical, authoritative religion. Democrat Liberals worship authority, because it absolves them of individual responsibility. Their vaunted tolerance is reserved for those who agree with them.
Liberals prate about freedom, but support every form of freedom stifling government. They want freedom, but only for those who toe the party line.

I agree in general with this article but as with all partisan pieces it has some deficiencies. Obama's remarks concerning isolationism were not rebuted by a "beyond brilliant" statement from Kelly, in fact it was rather restrained and off the mark, if this was a rebuttal I could do a far better job. This article is not Kelly's work but that of the American liberty report.

The remark about conservatives opposing the wall because reversing NAFTA would create more jobs in Mexico and remove the impetus to invade the US is beyond stupid. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, immediately after the conference, with then presidential candidate Trump, went on television to dispute Trump's assertion the NAFTA treaty would have to be revised because it was destroying American industry. He said words to the effect, Trump is wrong --NAFTA has been beneficial because there are new plants being constructed all over Mexico and many people are being employed. This was at the same time Carrier was closing its plant, to open operations in Mexico, proving Trump's case.

Borders are a matter of national sovereignty, without them there is no United States and our Constitution is toilet paper. The uncontrolled invasion of so many aliens is warfare, it is our ethos and way of life including our freedoms and laws to preserve such, that are at stake. We cannot allow an influx of foreign ideologies carried by people with no intent to assimilate themselves into our culture without disappearing as a people and a nation. Whether they are Mexicans, Guatemalans, or mohammedans matters not. It is not Xenophobia to desire your own continued existence.
