I was wondering, with all the taxes we get hit with, are some people off the hook on paying taxes like Minonites, Duncerds or Amish?

No, they pay quarterly "tithes" of milk and eggs to the IRS.

Very good question. Property taxes? I do not see how they could avoid, property tax. 1,000's of acres of farm land, ect. Income tax ? Good question.

The Amish are subject to sales and property taxes. As they do not own motor vehicles, they have no occasion to pay motor vehicle registration fees nor do they spend money in the purchase of fuel for vehicles. Under their beliefs and traditions, generally the Amish do not agree with the idea of Social Security benefits and have a religious objection to insurance. On this basis, the United States Internal Revenue Service agreed in 1961 that they did not need to pay Social Security-related taxes. In 1965, this policy was codified into law. Self-employed individuals in certain sects do not pay into nor receive benefits from the United States Social Security system. This exemption applies to a religious group that is conscientiously opposed to accepting benefits of any private or public insurance, provides a reasonable level of living for its dependent members and has existed continuously since December 31, 1950. The U.S. Supreme Court in 1982 clarified that Amish employers are not exempt, but only those Amish individuals who are self-employed.

Yep. You beat me to it. I deal almost exclusively with the Amish, only somewhat with the Mennonites. Even though a lot of Amish are somewhat hesitant in the beginning, once they trust you, if they're not at home, they just leave notes saying "come on in and help yourself -- you know what is yours." The only thing that I wonder about though, is that probably 97% of Amish ARE self employed. I have seen some of my Amish friends around tax time with an awful lot of paperwork sitting out that says to me they are considered businesses and as such gotta pay just like the rest of us.

Does they not pay income taxes as well as property taxes? Do it matter?

Mennonites certainly pay income taxes. It would make sense that the Amish do as well, except I'm not sure since literally their whole lives revolve around their religious beliefs, if perhaps that wasn't what the Supreme Court decision referenced. However, I have one or two friends in the Amish community that I deal with that I would be comfortable asking that question, and as soon as the ice melts and I make a trip to their community, I shall ask. Guess I will have to go Monday since Wednesday of next week, expecting more snow!!

Okay, you all are saying no taxes because no transportation.. In our town they drive tractors everywhere they wish to go!! The tractors, even though they are the smaller size, still tear up our streets with the big tires compared to my motorcycle which is way over taxed to ride on the streets!! A friends parked car got hit by one and guess what, no insurance!!! He got to pay to fix his car that a non-insured tractor hit as it was leaving the store!! And another thing that grips me, they pull a truck bed trailer with 5 kids in it!! Isn't that illegal for you or I??? I think any trailer pulled with a hitch would be illegal I mean even if I had 5 kids ridding in my truck bed is illegal!!! How come we have different laws for different people??? Thinking of growing my beard and getting a hat!!!
