During an appearance on radio shock-jock Howard Stern’s show this week, movie producer Harvey Weinstein said that he’s teaming up with actress Meryl Streep to produce a feature film that will make gun enthusiasts, namely members of the National Rifle Association, “wish they weren’t alive.”

Weinstein told Stern that he did not and would never own a firearm, and he doesn’t believe other Americans should have the right to own one.

“I don’t think we need guns in this country. And I hate it,” the producer said. “I think the NRA is a disaster area.”

Weinstein hinted that the movie will directly attack the NRA and its members.

“I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard,” he said. “I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this head-on. And they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.”

The chairman of Weinstein Co., which was formerly Miramax, also told Stern that the full-feature drama he is working on will demonize gun rights so unabashedly that those who see the film will leave thinking, “Gun stocks — I don’t want to be involved in that stuff.”

“It’s going to be like crash and burn,” he went on.

Deadline Hollywood offered a few more details about the film in an article following the interview:

"The formidable chairman of The Weinstein Co., Harvey Weinstein, confirmed to Deadline today they will be taking on the NRA gun lobby head-on with a film entitled The Senator’s Wife which will star the just-Oscar-nominated Streep (August: Osage County) and other top talent in a movie he described as “the new Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” — the beloved Frank Capra film that starred Jimmy Stewart about one man’s fight against corrupt politicians in Washington."

Prodded by Stern, Weinstein said that some people on the planet should be allowed to possess firearms for self-defense, but only in cases where the firearm is not personally owned and in countries where massive unrest is unfolding.

Asked to imagine the plight of the Jewish people disarmed and murdered by Nazi Germany, Weinstein told Stern that he might have used a firearm against his aggressors if he were in their shoes and he “found a gun” on the way to a concentration camp.

Washington Times opinion editor Emily Miller quipped in a piece discussing the producer’s movie plan, “Mr. Weinstein has been watching too many movies if he thinks the good guys find fully loaded firearms in convenient locations to use only when necessary.”

Yep, he's about as smart are you are. The only ones he will ever turn away from owning guns are the ones that are afraid of them now. No sane person would ever take Hollywood seriously. One thing I would dearly love to know. If guns were all outlawed and no one owned a gun. Just where is the gun going to come from that he is going to find on his way to the concentration camps? Typical Hollywood idiot. He thinks he will find a gun laying around when he needs it the most. I sure would like to know what he has been smoking. Must be some good stuff.

Hollywood and the movies they produce are nothing short of propaganda machines. The next movie you watch, take note of the agenda they are selling you. I used to go to the movies and though that they were to entertain, but of recent I have had to submit to the rigors of thinking (at the feet of educated people, to whom I am grateful), and I have watched some of the movies that I thought were real works of art, and after seeing them as they are; simply a way to mold inattentive minds, I now will spend my time in more constructive and productive efforts.

What do you think would be accomplished if he succeeded? Criminals don't register with the NRA blockhead. When I was growing up our school was wide open and about everyone had at least a shotgun in their home. You never heard of a school shooting or even dreamed it could happen. That means its not the guns its the culture. Maybe you and your lefty friends should take a hard look at the violence in movies and games you all love. Kids today can watch a movie or play a game filled with so much violence it would make an adult cringe but they see it as fantasy. Was the bombing in Boston by Jihadists caused because of guns. You are an idiot but we all know that.

It is our culture, we have always had guns and god willing always will. I remember reading something that happened at the end of war world II. One of the Japanese officials said what amazed them the most was how accurate of shots our soldiers were. In his opinion it was the number one reason why we won the war. Wether or not we won for that reason may or may not be true but it says volumes about the importance of American citizens being ready for the next time they are needed to defend American soil.

I think we need to attack the liberals in exactly the same manner. I believe we need to make a short extremely graffic documentary on abortion. Where we enact a law that says all woman prior to murdering their unborn child must watch this film. With all of the horror of body parts being ripped from their tiny bodies and watching them desperately trying to squirm away from the instrument of their death.

Let's put them on the defensive for awhile !

Another thing to remember. It is believed that the Japanese didnt invade the homeland of the US because they knew Americans personally owned guns.

So guns, once again, have proven to be a deterrent to those thinking of causing death to innocents.

Hey Mr Weinstein I hear that if you were in Nazi German you would shoot your Nazi guards "if you could get a gun" while you and your family were being led off to concentration camps stripped of everything down to your bare skin, you children, your wife and your hair...Even Ghandi was disappointed with the compliance to the Nazi taskmasters.

Now Mr. Weinstein you make movies killing people in every orifice on a large screen without blinking an eye.....BUT
you maintain the theory that becoming a victim is somewhow morally superior to defending yourself and your family makes perfect sense. Shame on you!!!!!!!!!

Weinstein, interesting last name, I wonder why he choose the holocaust as his example. You would think that he would be particularly sensitive to, charish and fight to the death to keep the incredible freedoms that we all share. Many of which are in place specifically to protect us from an oppressive government.

If your wife saw a man carrying off one of your children as they were screaming for help and she had no phone to call for help but she did have a concealed gun to shoot him with... what would you have advised her to do... run after him hoping she could beat him up or shoot him in the back?

Mr Weinstein, take a long walk off a short pier sir. You have done more to antagonize and increase membership in the NRA.

Actually something very similar to that did happen to my wife. She momentarily lost our son during an event at the elementary school. She looked out the front doors and a saw a man walking towards the parking lot with our son in tow. She shouted at the man who then turned around and started bringing him back towards the building. He said he found him out wondering around in the parking lot and was escorting him safely back inside.

To this day we don't know what this man's true intensions were I'm just grateful nothing more serious happened.

But here is a question that I have been asking myself this past week. I know that the "average" police response time is approx 12 minutes some places better others worse but on average. The average home break in takes 3-4 minutes. There is a problem here, and no one can tell me the police can protect us from violent crime.

But here's the question that's bothering me, you can pull up traffic cam's on your computer and watch traffic or see accidents. I even watched an accident caught on one if them as a woman plunged 70 feet off of a slippery bridge last week. Now there is a single individual who has robbed a couple of target stores in the twin cities over the past couple of weeks. Now there are camera's everywhere, in the stores, in the parking lots, everywhere along the highways and freeways but no one can catch this guy. Come on people you can't not only stop crime but you can't even catch a guy on video every where's.

But you want to take away our right to protect ourselves???

If it's not a gun, then it will be knives to kill. A lot of creeps dont care what they use as long as they can rob, rape, murder with what ever in handy... Gun or Knife. But a gun is less physical than having to use a knife. Many years ago... they just poisoned people... Doesn't matter what method they use, if someone wanted them dead... they'd be dead. After all, its the one HOLDING the gun, knife or baseball bat... they all can kill.
