The Lord’s prayer

What is commonly referred to as the Lords prayer is actually how Jesus taught us to pray. Furthermore Jesus advises against public displays. One man praying over a congregation is not how Jesus taught us to pray. We should go into a closet and talk with God alone. The prayer between Jesus and God is in the 17th chapter of John.

Verse 1

Jesus knew the crucifixion was imminent. The Sanhedrin used the Roman government and the people healed, taught, and fed by Christ to kill Him. Ephesians 5:25 says husbands should love their wives like Christ loved the church. The church didn’t love Christ and had Him killed. Men should provide for their families until they think you don’t deserve to provide for them. When they leave change the locks.

Verse 2

Disciples of Christ should follow Christ’s example. The experiences of Christ and the disciples should match yours. This power was demonstrated by being crucified and rising from the dead three days later.

Verse 3

Eternal life is believing in Christ. Christ says in John 14:15 that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. In Revelation 19:8 the fine linen worn by the bride of Christ is the righteousness of the saints. You don’t have faith in Christ if you cheat on your spouse.

Verse 4

After teaching disciples 3 ½ years, and making friends and enemies, it was over. Christ glorified God by rising from the dead after He had been dead three days.

Verse 5

God was here before this universe was created. God and Jesus have always had a relationship. God wants a relationship with you.

Verse 6

The disciples had not reached full understanding. They believed in Jesus as shown by walking with Him and sharing experiences with Him.

Verse 7

From walking with Jesus they could see that God was working through Jesus.

Verse 8

Jesus and God never disagree. The bible doesn’t contradict itself. But there ideas in the prophets that Jesus never spoke of.

Verse 9

We are not all the same. Jesus didn’t pray for everyone. If you not interested in God, it is probably because God is not interested in you. Oh well, if you are going to hell at least enjoy the trip.

Verse 10

The only way to God is thru Christ.

Verse 11

Jesus flesh is no longer here, but He sent the Holy Spirit to explain His word. About 1600 years after died, the King James bible was written. In Christendom, there are no big I’s and little you’s. We are all the same.

Verse 12

The son of perdition is not Judas. Judas repented. Satan is the son of perdition and will be destroyed.

Verse 13

When you see God’s word working in your life, it is amazing.

Verse 14

Friendship with the world is enmity with God.
James 4:4
If satan deceives the whole world, you will make some enemies. The minds deceived by satan will move the gates of hell itself to discredit you. God is in control so it doesn’t matter.

Verse 15

God’s will should be done on earth. The church should live and teach the word of God. Life would be better if it did.

Verse 16

You cannot straddle the fence. You will please man or please God. If you nod your head and say amen when a false prophet tells you that you don’t have to obey God’s law, don’t be surprised when he wants the church to buy him a 65 million dollar airplane. He became a millionaire telling people they didn’t have to follow God’s law, but they must pay tithes. You have to be a special kind of dumb to believe it when told it’s okay to murder, steal, and commit adultery, but God needs your money to spread the salvation message. Read Matthew 10:8

Verse 17

When you apply God’s word to your life, you will make enemies. Stick to God’s word.

Verse 18

There will be no secrets. When you read the word of God and apply it to your life, you understand it better. When you understand it, teach others.

Verse 19

Must Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free? No there is a cross for everyone, and there is a cross for me, you, and your friends and relatives. The bible is truth. However, it is taught that a relationship with Jesus is possible without reading the bible, it isn’t,

Verse 20

This applies to whoever reads the word of God, and applies it to his life. God is on our side.

Verse 21

A servant is not greater than his master. None of us are any closer to God than anyone else. The church has a hierarchy. There is no hierarchy in Christ. We are all one.

Verse 22 & 23

It doesn’t matter how long you have been saved. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. If we follow Christ, God loves us as much as He loves His son.

Verse 24

United we stand. Divided we fall. If we don’t stand together, we will fall apart. When w can come together under God, we are more effective than when we are alone. God and Jesus have always had a relationship. God wants a relationship with us. But if you want to dance with God, He will lead.

Verse 25

The only way to God is through Christ.

Verse 26

The final character trait that develops as you walk on your Christian journey is love. They are called fruits of the spirit for a reason. Sprouts don’t bear fruit. Plants don’t make any effort to bear fruit. They bear fruit if they stay planted.
