Nation with crumbling roads and bridges excited to build Giant Wall to keep Mezkins out...
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—As America’s bridges, roads, and other infrastructure dangerously deteriorate from decades of neglect, there is a mounting sense of urgency that it is time to build a giant wall.
Across the U.S., whose rail system is a rickety antique plagued by deadly accidents, Americans are increasingly recognizing that building a wall with Mexico, and possibly another one with Canada, should be the country’s top priority.
Harland Dorrinson, the executive director of a Washington-based think tank called the Center for Responsible Immigration, believes that most Americans favor the building of border walls over extravagant pet projects like structurally sound freeway overpasses.
“The estimated cost of a border wall with Mexico is five billion dollars,” he said. “We could easily blow the same amount of money on infrastructure repairs and have nothing to show for it but functioning highways.”
Congress has dragged its feet on infrastructure spending in recent years, but Dorrinson senses growing support in Washington for building a giant border wall. “Even if for some reason we don’t get the Mexicans to pay for it, five billion is a steal,” he said.

What I find remarkable and ridiculous about this whole wall business is - Trump could have fully funded the damn thing, had he stayed in DC on the weekends. Estimated wall cost: $26,000,000 - amount spent going to Mar-a-logo: $28,000,000 ( so far ). Do no Republicans know any math? Are they ALL out of touch with reality?
Trump demands that tax payers fund his weekend golf trips, pay for his wife's penthouse in Trump tower AND pay to rent space for her Secret Service detail AND first lady staff in Trump tower - AND - pay for a stupid wall he said Mexico would pay for, maybe, someday, possibly, sometime in the future.
So far, 3 months in, the US treasury has transferred $64,000,000 into Trump Industry accounts. Can you imagine the furor that would have resulted if Obama had spent a dime of tax payer money - that was transferred into his own bank account?! Here we have the GOP claiming to be fiscally and socially conservative, trying to tell the American people that they'll have to tighten their belts because we're broke - and they don't say a word about their President profiting off of the Presidency. This is not even mentioning how much his children and spouses are making off the Presidency.
By the end of the year, we'll have paid the Donald almost $300,000,000, but he makes a show of donating his pitiful paycheck. He's robbing us blind - and the GOP are ok with it. This whole "drain the swamp" business, is nothing but smoke and mirrors.
