It wasn’t that long ago when guns were an accepted part of American culture and life. Hunting, target shooting and self-protection were a mainstay of America. When I went to high school, the opening day of rifle season for deer was nearly a state holiday and was an acceptable excuse for missing school. It was common to see pick-up trucks in the school parking lot with gun racks in the back window of the cab, with 1 or 2 rifles, and no one took notice nor do I recall anyone breaking into a truck to steal the rifles. Of course, back in those days, many of us boys carried pocket knives everywhere including school.
Back then, we still started the day by standing, facing the American flag, putting our right hand over our heart and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Any talk of the Bible or Christianity at school and in class was still acceptable. Those students who didn’t believe in God, just accepted the fact that the major did and they just didn’t participate. We were also taught to love America and respect other people and their belongings. We were taught decent morals, ethics and values all through school from kindergarten through high school.

Sadly, all that has changed. Today, few students recite the Pledge of Allegiance. In fact, many students graduating from high school don’t even know the Pledge of Allegiance. It’s not acceptable to talk about the biblical God or Christianity in schools, but it seems it is acceptable to teach and discuss Islam. Instead of being taught to love America, students are being taught that America is the cause of all the world’s problems and that we are the enemy of the world. They are taught that all of the things that made America great, strong and prosperous are wrong and to be reviled. Students are not being taught the same decent morals, ethics or values we were. Instead, they are taught to think about themselves first, you know, survival of the fittest. Only in today’s culture, survival of the fittest also means survival of the roughest, toughest, strongest and meanest.
I once read where progressives around 1900 said that they could change America into the progressive or socialist nation they wanted just by having your kids 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 9 months a year for 12 years. During these impressionable years, progressives have successfully brainwashed YOUR kids to hate America, hate everything good about America and to embrace socialistic ideas. If you don’t believe that, then explain why a recent poll of millennials showed that 44% of them prefer socialism over capitalism.

The influence of a socialist based public school system and mainstream media is also responsible for changing the attitudes Americans have about guns and self-defense. According to a recent report:
“Most Americans oppose carrying firearms in public places, according to a study published Thursday in the American Journal of Public Health.”
“From a survey of 3,949 adults, a group of public health researchers found that fewer than 1 in 3 respondents supported carrying guns in public places such as college campuses, government buildings, schools, bars and places of worship.”

“In a summary of the study, The Trace reported that even a majority of the gun owners surveyed did not support carrying guns in schools or bars.”
“‘That’s an important finding because it goes against the general trend of what lawmakers are doing,’ said Julia Wolfson, a professor of public health at the University of Michigan and one of the study’s co-authors.”
One thing I want to point out is that many polls and surveys depend on the area they are taken in. If taken in large metropolitan areas, which are generally occupied by brainwashed liberals, the surveys will naturally lean towards the liberal views against gun ownership. Chances are, if the same survey was taken in more rural areas, then the results would most likely lean to the more conservative side that favors gun rights.

The problem is that the liberal mainstream media will take a survey like this to push more anti-Second Amendment laws that will strip Americans of their constitutional rights and leave millions defenseless and unable to protect themselves, their homes and their families. It makes me sad to read this as it is so true and to me, it feels like the ending of what once was the greatest nation on earth.
It was a beautiful place where everyone loved the country/flag and freedom. Where people worked hard for the most important thing they had, family (REAL family). People were helped by neighbors and the church, not government welfare.
Socialism was looked down on. Children played together at will. They didn't have to have a "Play date". I could go on and on but it's all just changing for the worse. People today just don't understand what they're losing. It WILL be lost the way it's going and I'm afraid it will never be seen again.
