Can anyone here on OPP explain to me why in the hell the Communinst Party is actually growing let alone be allowed to flourish in the United States? I could have sworn that at some point I think in the Late 50"s or Mid 60's that anything to do with Communism was against the law. As far as Im concerned, anyhting or anyone associated with in any way shape or form needs to BE CRUSHED!!!!!! If it isnt against the law it damn sure should be and watched once its crushed to never again be allowed to rear its fricked ugly head. At this point with all the crazy crap thats happening in our country its damn time fro our government while we still have a chance to go full on Mcarthy on their ass's. In the Corps we had an acronym one of many was THE THREE F'S. FIND FIX and FU^%CK UP the enemy! All of these pansy assed, pink hat wearing Beta males and the ANTIFA crowd are the enemy of our country. The enemy from within! It is time in my opinion TO FIX BAYONETS! Some here will ask "Is that really what you want a Civil War with all the gooy blood and the deaths of innocents"? For crying out loud people, the Civil War has already begun and is easily into its first stages. The ANTIFA punks and their minions were being offered fricken stealth knives at a reasonable price, what ever that is? This is real my friends here on OPP as well as those that I have had disagreements with. The United States is our home in all its Beauty, Greatness along with its warts and hairy nipples. (Gross) But it is what it is. For anyone that says easy to say from a keyboard, your right it is. However, I can and will act on the protection of this Nation if called upon. Been There Done That. Look, Id rather be just fiddle dicken around with my family doing what ever it is that makes us happy and not have to worry about this crap. But this unwanted crap is very real, very here in the now and ultimately extrememely dangerous. I really love my family as Im sure you all do and would also rather not to have to deal with this stuff. Hell, at this point I dont know what else to say, so I wont. You all take care, and think about this please. I know many here have been thinking about it and seriously though Im not to sure about the rest who havent.

My apologies for the weirdness in this article regarding the odd lettering and all that. I still dont know what that is all about or how to get rid of it prior to posting.

Communist Party membership numbers climbing in the Trump era

People’s World is pleased to share with its readers the following article from the international edition of the Cuban newspaper, Granma. It features an interview with Emile Schepers, a regular People’s World correspondent on U.S. politics, Latin America, and international affairs. Schepers also serves as the International Secretary of the Communist Party USA and was recently interviewed in that capacity by Granma. The original Spanish-language edition of this article can be read here.

The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) has been receiving membership requests ever since Donald Trump was elected President.

U.S. citizens with Marxist ideas were among the first to organize following the October Revolution of 1917, while their party, founded in 1919, is soon set to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Since its establishment, the CPUSA has lived through the inter-war period and Cold War repression, which practically forced the organization underground. Of the country’s 300 million inhabitants, the organization currently has some 5,000 members nationwide.

Speaking to Granma International, Emile Schepers, CPUSA International Secretary, said, “Although the phantom of the McCarthy era still looms across the U.S., there is growing interest in communist ideas.”

An anthropologist by profession, Schepers was born in South Africa but moved to the United States when his parents emigrated to escape apartheid. He grew up in the rugged and breathtaking landscape of the Adirondack mountains and joined the CPUSA in 1987, although his association with Marxist ideas began much earlier during periods of his life spent in the suburbs of Maryland and a Puerto Rican neighborhood in Chicago.

Schepers is conscious of the fact that, “Although the United States is in no way experiencing a pre-revolutionary situation in the communist sense, capitalism is showing terminal signs worldwide.”

He says that in the United States specifically, “The global financial crisis affected many people and left the sense that today’s youth are worse off than their parents.”

“Neither recent Democratic nor Republican administrations have been able to resolve the serious problems affecting the majority of the country’s citizens,” he noted. “History tells us,” according to the CPUSA leader, “that popular discontent doesn’t always take a progressive route.” He pointed out the way in which, in the most recent U.S. election, ideological manipulation unleashed a right-wing upsurge. Schepers highlighted that in his current home state of Virginia not only the wealthy, but also many poor whites, came out to vote for Trump.

Coal mining is the main source of employment in the area; however thousands of workers have been laid off over recent years. The Republican campaign focused on pointing the finger of blame toward Barack Obama’s environmental policies.

Meanwhile, millions of youth mobilized in support of the progressive ideas of Bernie Sanders during the Democratic Party primaries. Schepers is convinced that if the Vermont Senator had been Trump’s opponent, he would have won.

In this sense, the CPUSA highlighted the importance of the left working to fight against manipulations and what Schepers referred to as “false class consciousness.”

“It’s very difficult when the mass media are controlled by corporations and local news stations in the interior of the country only broadcast preachers announcing the end of the world,” he noted. Schepers went on to say that the CPUSA aims to educate and share its ideas with as many people as possible, by all means possible.

In regards to the web, the organization has a site which features the party’s manifesto, its actions, and information about how to join.

However, the great challenge according to the CPUSA official continues to be organizing workers and trade union structures – without interfering in their internal affairs – around defending the rights of the most vulnerable workers.

The CPUSA also supports the Palestinian cause and opposes U.S. militarism. It has supported the Cuban Revolution for many years, and more recently the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The announcement over two years ago that the U.S. government would seek to normalize relations with Cuba was welcomed by the party. “December 17, 2014 took us by surprise, but it was good news. Obama didn’t do everything he could, although he advanced in some aspects,” noted Schepers.

Despite this, he believes that support to end the blockade is growing among both Democrats and Republicans in the U.S. Congress. He explained, “Some are motivated by humanist sentiments and others by economic interests, but both oppose the policy.” The only sectors which continue to support the blockade are the ultra-right, and in particular the Cuban-American community in Florida, he highlighted.

All recent polls show that the majority of U.S. citizens support the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“We don’t know what Trump might do, whether he is going to listen to the voices of the ideologues or the people, but in general we U.S. communists are optimistic,” Schepers said.

I've been watching this closely since 2011 and while I've never been an alarmist, I agree with you 100%. IMO 9/11 happened because we got arrogant and lazy (with monitoring our visas) thinking something like that could NEVER happen on our soil from the "rag head camel jockeys". Now, since last year we're minimizing the "new enemy", the "pussy hat wearing snowflakes". "We", American conservatives need to wake the fuck up and stop underestimating these Antifa terrorists and stop being so arrogant as to think that the violent conflicts we see happening in other Western countries can't happen here, because as you point out, it's already started.
I saw this meme and thought of you and all the other veterans on OPP...thank you all for your service in the past and thank you all for your willingness to fight again for our Constitution and freedom here if need be.

My husband and I have never voted but now feel obligated to get involved in order to help fix this mess-that easily influenced Americans- dragged us all into. A couple whom we have been friends with for 20 years never vote either, but this election year, out of the blue, they started pressuring us to vote. We asked them "you guys never vote, why all of a sudden now?" They said "because Obama and Hillary have been running a child sex ring and they want to help make sure Hillary doesn't win " . (I don't know what made them think we would vote for Trump even if we did vote.) Now we can't even go around them because out of concern for them being misinformed (scammed), we tried telling them that they must have fallen onto a platform meant to misinform people. (They stopped watching main stream news when the " Fake News " thing started spreading ) They got sooo mad. Almost violent even. Calling us names and all. It is very odd because it's almost like they've been brainwashed. They think Trump is the savior and Putin is a great ruler. Two days before election day, we all had the same views toward politics and then like over night they went so extreme right it was crazy. We don't know if they have figured it out yet. As for our family and other friends, they straight up refuse to even acknowledge it as a national security threat. It's scary because now it has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the fact that a highly narcissistic administration, aided by a hostile foreign nation, have scammed their way into The White House and are clearly trying to help Putin destabilize our nation ( and other nations ) for their own profitable gain. Chump really is the true welfare queen who has scammed his way through life and isn't afraid to use the U.S. as his pawn when Putin has him by the balls.

SO many of my conservative friends (Baby Boomers raised in CA, no less)...hundreds of them, are as you say, fed up with the bullshit of the left and their many "identity politics" groups. People, specially the left, don't realize how much a President sets the tone and influences the people of the country...we've seen how Obama has affected our 18 - 27 year olds and now we're seeing how Trump's love for America and his willingness to push back and not accept the bullying bullshit of the left is affecting conservatives and anyone else even an inch to the right of center. Take heart, every day I'm seeing more and more Americans pushing back and speaking up and I guarantee you that if pushed, they will rise up out of their easy chairs, put aside their "live and let live, just don't rub my nose in it" attitude and WILL finally fight back if needed...it's in every TRUE American's DNA.

I for one am DELIRIOUSLY happy that nobody cares anymore and it sounds to me as if you're an antagonizing, delusional liberal who is very bad at trolling. Don't you have some march or protest to be organizing or attending for some group of imaginary victims? Why don't you start a GoFundMe account that many of us capitalist conservatives would be HAPPY to contribute to for a one way ticket to Cuba or Venezuela for you so you can immediately live how YOUR side of center wants you and Americans to live. You'd love it, I'm sure. Heck, I'm sure we'd even throw in a free Che t-shirt for you to wear on your flight.

I lost my post. Near the end ,too. We are in agreement all the way. Why did we spend our lives fighting Communism around the world to sit here in our later years and watch it and worse destroying the world around us for our grandchildren and great grandchildren? We fought for a better world only to watch Hillary and Bernie Sanders the great Communist grandfather twist the truth and remold our youth to something unrecognizable? I like yourMarine Corps three "f's".

Please know that we out here, Army, Air Force and Marines are on the same line of thought. We're disgusted. The people of the world have turned to MUSH. Many of us have brought up strong family units, but what happened to everyone else. I shouldn't have omitted the Coast Guard. My apologies!
