Conservative's have been trying to destroy objective journalism in this country for as long as they have been around. They aren't happy with the pollution they get from Fox or Brietbart but think everyone has to be consumed by fake news.

So, you actually believe that our nations elite colleges as well as NPR teach critical thinking? I truly believe that persons on the left should take the time to read history and then read, listen and watch so called right wing media. True critical thinking allows one to clearly see which is true and which is flawed or slanted.

Liberals call "critical thinking" whatever they agree with.

NPR is objective? Could have fooled me! I quit listening when they fired Juan Williams for being too conservative.

Really? Could it be that our friend Juan was a traitor!

Williams blames what he says is a small group of elitist liberal news executives at NPR who didn't like when he expressed his opinions in other news outlets, including on the Fox News Channel.

"I think that what was behind it, in the mind of the executive that fired me, was my willingness to work for Fox, and to engage conservatives," Williams says, "and to stand up and make arguments that often times were construed as conservative arguments, whether it was on Fox, or in print, or in books." After being relieved of duty he ran straight to FOX! Strange isn't it?

Therefore less funding actually means more money? You don't need reason to figure out what that really means!

"Public Stations" are "Government Controlled Stations", and this is Socialism at its most effective... And Government Officials at all levels - Local, State, and Federal - know this better than anyone... Less Government Funding actually means less Government Influence in the Mass Media... And "... that ain'ta gonna happen any time soon..."

Seems their is no kryptonite to save leftist from the superman type of spin stories spun by leftwing/journalist media sources. No matter what facts or truths (Kryptonite ) shot out in defense, their ears/minds are entirely shielded.

Where is it written in the constitution that the government has the authority to spend taxpayer funds on art? Answer: It's not!
And if it's not contained within the 4 corners of the constitution, then the government doesn't have the power to do it. Period. End of debate! The constitution itself specifically specifies that powers not specifically enumerated in the document as belonging to the federal government belong to the state, or the people.
NPR can't survive on its own. It needs taxpayer funding to exist. If it can't survive in the market, then it's time for its taxpayer funding to be cut off. Talk radio, which is almost invariably right wing, thrives without one cent of taxpayer help. They must be providing a needed service to the public. Why can't NPR do the same? Answer: because they adhere to a far left wing agenda that is so far out of the mainstream of thought that there isn't widespread support for it.
It's high time the government cuts off funding for all that left wing propaganda that passes for so-called art.
And after that let's focus on the Dept. of Education. Here's hoping that Betsy DeVos is up to the task. I don't see any place in the constitution where the government is given the authority to "educate" the nation's schoolchildren. Let's get back to our roots where McGuffy's Readers were mandatory reading for all schoolchildren. Where their stories interspersed various moral stories from the Bible with everyday lessons for schoolchildren. Before the government took out all references to morality from the curiculum. That was the start of the country's long slide towards leftism. Which is really about eliminating references to God.
Where is it written in the constitution that the g... (show quote)

That article has nothing to do with Government Funding/Involvement with Public Stations...

This said, I think when anyone reports opinions, they should quote their sources, just like they need to do when reporting facts... I know I don't do this all the time, but that simply means I'm in the wrong on those instances as well...

Too much money is being spent on Acedemia. It is the last refuge of liberal propaganda. Education is an eyesore to the defense of our nation. A mindless ignorant automaton is more preferable than an eggheaded liberal for he will follow orders instead of questioning them with Democratic Gibberish.

In a statement, NPR COO Loren Mayor said:

"Millions of Americans depend on their local public radio station for the fact-based, objective, public service journalism they need to stay informed about the world and about the news in their own communities. Public media serves the public interest with essential educational, news and cultural programming not found anywhere else, as well as vital information during local and regional emergencies. Federal funding is an essential ingredient to making this possible."
The federal funds are especially crucial for local stations, as well as local arts groups, which often receive matching funds from other donors based on their federal allocations.

NEH Chairman William D. Adams issued a statement saying his agency is "greatly saddened to learn of this proposal for elimination." NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, "We are disappointed because we see our funding actively making a difference with individuals of all ages in thousands of communities, large, small, urban and rural, and in every Congressional District in the nation." http://www.npr.org/2017/03/16/520401246/trumps-budget-plan-cuts-funding-for-arts-humanities-and-public-media. Academia teaches critical thinking and also has people told "no" to stupid shit they think or say....hence the right's push for anti-intellectualism.......so anything they choose to claim is valid can be viewed as such without any accountability............
