Trump has said so many more ridiculously funny things than Obama, irresistible.

Thank you, Af1. I have been struggling with the question of Trump followers, wondering about their cognitive ability, although I know it is not the basic problem. It lies in the fact of Trump's genius, his ability to make so many people believe that he is smart, but more importantly that he is patriotic, that he gives away his salary because he loves his fellow man. He pushes for a tax cut that benefits his campaign donors and makes middle America believe he is doing them a favor. That. Takes genius.
I think that Trump followers did not see that you were praising him for his magnificent success as a con man rather than a traditional genius, for which you would have sowed pearls before.....not the choir,.

Why did McConnell announce that his goal would be to make Obama a one-term president? He worked very hard at it, nixing measures that Republicans had favored. You seem to imply there was no personal reason?

Do you like to see what people have to say only if they praise Trump? Do you consider everybody else an i***t? Over 50% of us disagree with the way Trump is leading the country. We don't h**e Trump, we simply think he is doing a poor job. Most posters on OPP agree with you. A few of us view the political situation with an open mind. You might try it sometime.

Thank you DASHY. It is as simple as that. Where is all this h**e seen by
Trumpsters? It seems to be in the beholding eyes. And oh yes, libs ought to go back to school, or grow up, or stop making love to their tonic and gin (God bless Billy Joel and beerspilly)!
I love the Trump-lovers' nastiness. It is so much more fun than the (what I see) calm neutrality of woody and af1, etc. The choir gets boring.

IMHO, Putin would like Trump's opponent to be the easiest one he can beat. All the Russians need to do is continue to misinform about socialism and then, second term easy as pie.

Yes, a toast to "Off with his head" Mitt Romney!
That is good for another insult.

I can't foresee a time when I will be tired of wining, nor dining.
Lift a glass to an insult-free world! Plus a Senate that serves the people, not a king.

Democrats cannot take all the responsibility for being takers. Look at all the deregulating! Of course that is a factor in our booming economy, even though it is a gift that some say may cause a toxic environmental result. Is this what corporate welfare is about?

When my granddaughter was 16, she reported that her attitude toward democrats was based on their using her tax dollars to care for welfare queens. (Her family love Fox.) Democrats are seen as takers by many republicans who use this service (OPP). I have seen empathy as a quality that separates the sides and was pleased to see that some non-democrat users have been forced to accept government assistance and therefore do not see all government assistance programs as waste all the time. I had really thought that republicans probably thought that empathy was a naughty word, equating it to socialism.
The big thing is the allocation of money. The first programs to pass republicans' lips at budget-lowering discussions are the assistance programs. That would have a major influence on the perception that republicans lack empathy.
In the real world, as rumi so eloquently stated, there will always be takers. It would be sad to punish the truly needy along with the others. As our republican friends tell us, it is American to presume innocence. Even though it seems sometimes that all republicans believe that all democrats are stupid and power-hungry, I was pleased today to hear from some republicans that at least in government assistance, there may be some room to compromise.
