Saltwind 78 is right: my thought is to read who he cites and also Fox news and other sources then look at the which of these presents the most t***hful argument: what Trump says is so full of contradictions that it is hard to sift out the t***h from them.

If we as a country want to prevent the establishment of Sharia law from becoming a force here in America we need to prevent becoming a Muslim nation: that requires preventing over 150 MILLION Muslims from becoming the majority group here. That could only happen if we allow ourselves to become so fragmented politically that we are too weak to support our Constitution. A first step might be to quit demeaning those fellow Christian Americans who are of the opposite opinion ( i.e. conservative or liberal ) and realize that we are much stronger united. That means respecting each other enough to realize that name calling etc. is defeating this goal.

Old Roy is right; Christians from parts of Europe tried to wrest control of the Holy Land from the Muslims. These invasions had nothing to do with defending Christian country; it was all about ethnic cleansing of the Holy Land of Muslims and returning Christian control to the area. Another example of early Christians' brutality was the French St Bartholomew's massacre where Christians slaughtered Christian neighbors of a different Christian sect. A more modern example was the ethnic cleansing in the break up of Yougoslavia, where Christians k**led their Muslim neighbors of many generations. Compare this to much of what is going on ISIS and the like today.

My point is that Christians have a history of violence as do Muslims. Both religions profess much the same i.e love thy neighbor as thyself but both have radical extremist sects that twist the true loving nature of both. Hatred of either religion for the actions of a few of their members is not seeing the true picture of either. For instance, the Koran has a longer section in it about our Virgin Mary.

To Sam Do you feel the same way if radical Christians suddenly took up stoning?

Sharia law governs those of the Islamic faith; similar to the guiding laws of Christianity. I seriously doubt that it is in any way threatening to our country. Last time I checked, however, our US Constitution provides freedom of religious belief thus allowing those American followers of that faith to follow it. As with any faith our US laws prevail over ALL faith laws, INCLUDING Christian. That is why we don't stone people anymore

Yes, Obama did a great job to facilitate the drop in unemployment, a full 5% lower. Compare that to the disaster left him by the previous Republican administration.

Modifying ACA in a BIPARTISAN effort would seem the easiest, most acceptable road to take. The Freedom caucus means freedom to force everyone to comply with their-not the general public's- wishes.

My mother committed suicide when I was 10 years old. Her gateway drug was LEGAL alcohol; she progressed to LEGAL prescribed opiates followed by heroin. My stepmother's gateway drug was LEGAL prescribed opiates. Neither tried marijuana because it was illegal and therefore much worse than either of the LEGAL destroyers of their and our family's lives. If one looks at the whole drug picture and how many people fall into the trap of readily available legal drugs why are all these people so down on marijuana? Both legal avenues lead to much more physically addictive drug use. My guess is, like the two women mentioned above, ignorance of the facts around the destructiveness of Legal drugs vs marijuana plays a large part.

You stated that the first amendment was to prevent religion and politics becoming "entwined". That means they are separate!

Our country's founders were a mix of religious affiliations; Catholic, Puritan, Episcopal, Jewish, etc. Because of the sincerely held but different beliefs of each of these faiths the first line of the Bill of Rights states that our new government was prohibited from establishing a state religion and guaranteeing the free expression of all religions. Someone needs to inform our Attorney General that it is OK to practice his Southern Baptist religion, but not to allow his personal beliefs infringe on other citizens' equally permissible beliefs.
