I live in Oklahoma...we tell the same jokes here. I live near some rolling hills, (rurally), and when you top one of them you can literally see a good 25 miles. There is another one of those rolling hills blocking the last 10 miles to the next town, (in this case city)...or you could see it too.

I assume for more than entry level jobs, your requirements for after "after-hours" calls from work were explained to you when you hired on. Many companies expect you to be available for emergencies...or in some cases it's even a built-in requirement. However, if the company is taking advantage...options, I imagine would differ between employers. Sadly, what usually happens is...you end up putting up with it/quit/move on
