I will take a stab at what Jefferson might have been thinking. Try this.

I am an extremely wealthy man. Most of my wealth comes from buying and selling Africans, as if they were cattle. I could care less about the psychological scars I leave when I separate parent from child, husband from wife, at the s***e auctions.

It's sweet having unpaid labor work the plantation while I wax poetically about freedom and liberty.

I have a real problem though. There are so many more b****s than w****s here at Monticello. Some of them are quite burley and strong and more intelligent than I gave them credit for.

How am I going to control them? My fists? Yelling?

What if they stage an uprising? Wait...... a thought is coming to me. Why don't we use guns. They will come in handing for the local white "m*****as" when we are looking for runaway s***es.

Mental note to self: make sure that w****s are given free access to guns in this new nation.

How do I do that? I know. I will go to Patrick Henry. He's a man after my own heart, another s***e owner who likes throwing around words like "liberty" ....yeah, the "liberty" to own s***es (heh, heh).

Wait, the mail just arrived. Patrick says he will be the point man for "gun control...gun control of black people. He says he will do it through a new second amendment to the constitution. He said most people will think it is actually about self defense and deer hunting and won't realize our true motives.

While speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives Wednesday, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, the Texas Democrat once dubbed the "Congressional boss from Hell," claimed the Constitution is 400 years old.

“Maybe I should offer a good thanks to the distinguished members of the majority, the Republicans, my chairman and others, for giving us an opportunity to have a deliberative constitutional discussion that reinforces the sanctity of this nation and how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years, operating under a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not,” she said.

Lee was only off by 173 years, since the Constitution was adopted in September 1787, not 1614.

A post at the Washington Free Beacon said that going by Jackson Lee's version of history, the document would have been signed seven years after Jamestown became America’s first permanent English settlement.

Twitchy said it's not surprising to hear such a statement from Jackson Lee, who "can be consistently counted on to say ridiculous things."

Twitter users wasted no time ridiculing the Texas Democrat.

"I wasn't surprised that Sheila Jackson Lee thinks the constitution is over 400 yrs old. I was surprised she knew we had a constitution," one person said.

"Is it r****t to point out that Sheila Jackson-Lee is not qualified to hold elected office?" another person asked.

"Now imagine if Sarah Palin had said the Constitution is 400 years old," added Twitter user "Matthew."

Another person asked who was more dumb -- Jackson Lee or the people who keep re-electing her to office.

"Having once lived in her district, I can confidently say 'yes,'" one person said in response.

One person said the Constitution only "looks" 400 years old "from all the recent trampling" it has received.

Jackson Lee, who was once recommended by the Congressional Black Caucus to head up the Department of Homeland Security, recently said the "number one agenda" of the newly-formed Congressional Full Employment Caucus would be to draft executive orders for President Obama to sign.

She also said Americans should simply turn in their guns and declared that insurance cancellations brought about by Obamacare are lies.

Jackson Lee also speculated that George Zimmerman broke his own nose, and claimed Christian "militants" might "bring down the country."

If we fail to look past the presidents we have had & those that we may have we will never get to the bottom of the problems we have.

We need to know just who is picking who we choose from & dictate to those chosen just what they can say & do if they want & get the job.

The course that this country & the world is at a cross roads that in the near future can bring lasting changes to the way things are done.

We may not be able to do much about what happens but we maybe able to adjust how each of us interacts with the changes to get by.
