But ronnie raygun was compassionate, and was dragging the sack and looking for hispanic votes.

Guess it was just another one of his many failures

Thanks Anigav, for cutting through the xenophobic hype. I was about to post this AP story but you beat me to it.

Seems the conservatives seem to be going into heart failure, because our president is doing the job this nation elected him to do.

Some of them are even too stupid to realize that he was given, in the election of 2012, another 4 year mandate to lead, not two.

Yeah well, neither of them were black, so it's not the same thing. Oh yeah, they weren't Muslim either. Let's see, what else is different with Obama - Oh! That's right - he's not Republican either. There you go! THAT'S why what Obama does is so repellant.

It seems that Republicans are better at SHOUTING stuff than Democrats, who seem to be hiding under their beds or something. Are there any Democrats left in the Congress?

Maybe you should try to read this clever article. It mentions that "In 1986, Congress and Reagan enacted a sweeping overhaul that gave legal status to up to 3 million immigrants...". Did you miss that part? That was a big mistake, but it did happen - with Congressional approval.

The other actions referenced allowed family of (then) LEGAL residents to join them.

In NO CASE did Reagan or Bush bypassing Congress, as what Obama is going to do. But nice try at deception anyway. Better luck next time.

We know, Brian, that this past November 4th was merely a midterm hiccup, not one of the worst ass whoopin's the Democratic party has ever endured. Remember what your God-King said, HIS policies were on the ballot. HIS policies lost the Senate, put the House even further out of reach, put Republicans in charge of most State Governments, and caused this resounding defeat you insist on calling a "normal midterm correction."
I believe his "mandate" is just about "dated."

You need to read a little farther. Yes, Congress passed a law, but the law did not cover dependents, so:

"Early efforts in Congress to amend the law to cover family members failed. In 1987, Reagan's Immigration and Naturalization Service commissioner announced that minor children of parents granted amnesty by the law would get protection from deportation."

That is the executive action the article is referring to.

Personally, I think people make too much of midterm elections...control of congress goes back and forth...the opposing party of the president always has much better turn out...Reagan lost the senate in his second term

Oh the old Reagan defense. Amnesty for 3 Million in a nation of 250 Million as compared to amnesty for 11-20 Million in a nation of 309 Million. Illegals have quadrupled at very least. US Population has not. Amnesty in the 80s was a bad idea and led to a massive influx of illegals. Lets not make the same mistake again.

I think it's fair to ask why was it okay when Reagan and George Bush Sr did it but not today with this president...why is Congress opposed to amnesty ? I know you said you felt it was a mistake...is that true for both Presidents that passed amnesty laws ? It seems that if there was a republican in the White House, they might be more supportive of the idea..the same as they were with Reagan and Bush

So, lets say they compromised on less people..maybe 5 million ? Would that be okay with you ? What number would be okay ?

Congress is not opposed to amnesty. They learned lessons from Reagan. Secure the border first then we can talk about what to do with those already here.
