I lost my best friend today, a month shy of 13.
His name was/is Bailey, he had many nicknames around the house but the one that stuck was B.D.E. (Best Dog Ever)

I just ran across this thread. I have been dealing with personal matters all weekend.
I am so sorry for your loss, WFOC. A family pet is, indeed, part of the family. I know your loss is great, and you will mourn him as family. May he rest in peace...and find his way into Doggie Heaven. My condolences..... :-( .

I am sorry to hear about Bailey. They become such a part of our lives, don't they? Looks like he was connected to your baby as well as to you. There will always be a special place in your heart and memories for Bailey. God sends us dogs to remind us of what unconditional love is. Knowing a great dog makes us more appreciative of the love of God for us all.
SWMBO isn't back home yet, but I know she will understand what a great loss it is. Even Tank sitting here beside me seems to appreciate the passing of one of his brothers in spirit.

Over the years we have lost pals like Bailey. They each seem to bring into our lives something special and precious. As each one was called to a higher place; we grieved and felt the pain of loss and had for quite a while a feeling that our hearts would break.
God knows when a sparrow falls. God is not only Sovereign over man but of all creatures great and small. He and only He knows how it hurts. To paraphrase a great prophet.
We may cry in the darkness, but morning will bring the joy of light.
Hang in there our dear friend. We love you in Christ.

So sorry to hear that; we've been through that too and it's always hard. Got to believe we'll see them in Heaven one day.

Have you and Bailey in my prayers. He'll show back up soon, he just caught a scent of something wonderful and at 13, he deserves to make inquiries.
Keep faith and, we all will too.
God bless
I don't know you folks, but I can certainly emphasize with you. Like you I am an animal lover but there is no bond like the one between a human and a dog! I have lost a few in my time, some from old age some from misfortune, to me it was as bad as losing one of my children. There are no words I can speak that will alleviate your pain, but this I will say from experience. When you are ready don't hesitate to get another, it won't be the same as your old friend but in some ways it will. God be with you in your loss. Your boy will be there to greet you when you arrive, count on it.
Love you in Christ
I am so very sorry for your loss. At 13, and having lived with you, I am sure her life was filled with love and many happy times. Still, to lose a friend and loved one is always hard and sad. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. We can get so close to our pets that we often forget they are pets and think of them as family. I lost three of them not long ago and all of them was from old age. Each one of them took part of my heart with them. I grieved so bad with the last one that I though my heart was going to explode. I found a new one shortly after that and we took immediately to each other. He is fantastic and keeps me going. I will never forget the others, but this one has saved my sanity and always seems to know when I am saddened by the loss of the others. Our friends surly have a special place in heaven and are waiting for us.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. We can get so ... (
show quote)
As I read through the messages to you, I couldn't help but picture Bailey in heaven waiting for you, his tail wagging, tongue hanging out, all excited and happy. I have always felt dogs are special, they love you unconditionally, and dog spelled backward is god. I am not trying to be irreverent, but don't you know God realized that.
I have one I call Bear. He was lost for a day and my heart was broke, so I can only imagine how much it hurts to lose your pal, your buddy, your baby sitter.
