Burglary in Florida

I don't know if this one is true but it is too funny to let it get away, especially from our Florida people.

When southern Florida resident Nathan Radlich's house was
burglarized recently, thieves ignored his wide screen plasma TV,
his VCR, and even left his Rolex watch.

What they did take, however, was a white box filled with a
grayish-white powder. (That's the way the police report described it.)

A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale police said that it looked similar
to high grade cocaine and they'd probably thought they'd hit the big time.

Later, Nathan stood in front of numerous TV cameras and pleaded with
the burglars: 'Please return the cremated remains of my sister, Gertrude.
She died three years ago.'

The next morning, the bullet-riddled corpse of a local drug dealer
known as Hoochie Pevens was found on Nathan's doorstep.
The white box was there too; about half of Gertrude's ashes remained.
Scotch taped to the box was this note which said:

Hoochie sold us the bogus blow, so we wasted Hoochie.
Sorry we snorted your sister. No hard feelings. Have a nice day.

And you thought California was the land of fruits and nuts. --

color=red I don't know if this one is true but it... (show quote)

According to Snopes.com it's one of several urban legends. But no matter what, I wouldn't doubt that it's happened some ware. If not, it's still funny in a weird way.

I only put it here because it would be so easy to have happened somewhere. Users really don't pay a lot of attention often and they sure as hell don't always get what they are after when someone like Hoochie sells it to them.

Sing along. -- Fairytales can come true, it can happen to you, if your young at heart, like oldroy and myself. Thanks oldroy for the laugh. Alex you need to lighten up a bit, it was meant as humor.

It was certainly meant to be humorous but did Snopes prove that it was untrue? Not for me, they didn't.

usmc4.

If on the off hand chance you are, or were a Jar-head. I have a short tale to tell you.

Heading home yesterday, I noticed on the back window of a jeep in front of me some Marine Corps stickers... One was the stripes of a 1st. sgt. another read: RETIRED: followed with-- "I may not be as lean or mean, but I am still a MARINE.."

I laughed at that one. So very true! -- "Once in - never out."

So true "Once in -Never out". I've seen that sticker also. But my favorite bumper sticker, (which beings back memories) is--- "If you're not a Drill Instructor - "Get off my ass". As i'm sure holds true with all branches. Thanks cracker. - Semper Fi.

Better than the bumper stickers is the billboard:

"THE CHANGE IS FOREVER" SEMPER FI!

The story was basically true, but the local newspapers near Boynton, Florida didn't mention any Hootchie, or bullet-ridden body. Just another urban legend coming out of a comical (in a weird, sort of way) crime incident. Snopes had nothing to do with the story, except to set it straight from the original news releases. It is funny, unless you're the victim.
