The shooter in the Chesapeake Walmart tragedy used a pistol. I know the resident liberals are sad that it was not something more they could use for their agenda.

The article said he was a store manager. That kind of narrows it down. The shooter in Colorado Springs was "non-binary" and insists on being addressed as "Mx." rather than Mr. or Ms. What is this world coming to when gays can't go have a drink and a screw without some other gay shooting them?

Right, it was not an AR15. A pistol is preferred because it's easy to conceal. You make a good argument to outlaw concealed weapons. I think that would satisfy most liberals. But why would anybody want an AR 15? Its purpose is to kill people. That's what they do in the military. Why would anybody else want to do that?

ok, maybe I'm ignorant, or more accurately behind the times. I know (or knew) a little about an M16 as I qualified as an expert in 1967. It's possible that the AR 15 has changed but at that time the only difference was the switch on the M16 that could be used to switch between automatic and semi automatic. I've always thought of them as pretty much the same as soldiers rarely use the automatic feature on the M16, as it wastes a lot of ammo. At that time the M16 tended to jam when you filled the 20 round magazine to capacity. There was a rock and roll station in Saigon that carried the government ad "be keen with sixteen", advising soldiers to fill the magazine with only 16 rounds, as 20 rounds would cause it to jam. I assume that has been fixed. Both weapons are accurate and very easy to use.

Were you in a combat unit in Vietnam?
How much live fire training did you get with an M16 before they sent you over there?
Did you get a lot of trigger time with real enemies in sight?
How many jams did you experience that were caused by a fully loaded mag?
Are you aware of the real problems troops had with the M16 in Vietnam?

The notion that soldiers in combat rarely use the "automatic feature" is patently absurd.
Why do you suppose the basic infantry weapons issued to soldiers of all nations are capable of full auto fire?

How about the AR15? Do you own one? Have you ever owned one? Have you even shot one?
I have owned a number of ARs and put thousands of rounds through them.
The few times my AR jammed was due to a broken extractor, and in a couple of instances, the gas rings were worn and the bolt failed to complete a cycle - it's called a "short cycle".
The only time I experienced a mag feed problem was when the bullet follower jammed, the spring was broken,
or the length of the cartridge (COL) was longer than 2.26 inches, and those were hand loads.

If you asked a soldier, marine, or SEAL if they would take an AR15 into combat, they'd tell you to shove it up your ass.
