This year hurricanes started late. Year to year you are going to see the amount of hurricanes going up and down. The trend is more and stronger. Ian was very strong.

Look at the table in the link. If anything, that is a downward trend. Also look at hurricanes in history. This was not the strongest to hit Florida.

It sure seems to. Just a look at that graph and the imagined best straight line through that data and it has a slight downward slope. One could apply a least squares analysis to it and verify it for sure.
