How close are we and how then should we live?

The pillars of ethics and morality are crumbling all around us. Unprecedented events on both a national and global scale are signaling the advent of a total societal breakdown more strongly than ever before in history.

This begs the question. How close are we to the return of Christ, and to our meeting with Him, face-to-face?

In light of a world with a coordinated agenda to reject all things good, while embracing all things perverted and evil - strongly signifying that God's longstanding patience with humanity is rapidly counting down... every day, every hour, every minute and every heartbeat is drawing us closer to His appearing. We must therefore ensure that our vertical alignment with God is solid...because of what we can now see coming upon the earth.

Since the founding of this country, people throughout the United States have celebrated the freedom we have as Americans. But, the concept of freedom didn’t originate with the founding of the United States. It is found throughout the pages of the Bible, culminating with the person and work of Christ.

Jesus declared, “Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

As believers, we enjoy numerous freedoms because of what Jesus has done for those who have placed their trust in Him alone.

Because of Jesus and His death and resurrection on our behalf, we have:

Freedom from guilt. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1).
Freedom from shame. “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame” (Rom. 10:11).
Freedom from God’s wrath “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thess. 5:9).
Freedom from fear of death. “But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Tim. 1:10).
Freedom from bondage to sin. “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace” (Rom. 6:14).
Freedom from the curse of the law. “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us” (Gal. 3:13).
Freedom from legalism. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Gal. 5:1).
Freedom from Satan’s dominion. “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Col. 1:13).
Freedom to approach God. “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus” (Heb. 10:19).
Freedom to relate to God as His child and His heir. “Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Gal. 4:7).
Freedom to partake and enjoy every spiritual blessing. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph. 1:3).
Freedom to bring our concerns and requests to God. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Phil. 4:6).
Freedom to walk with God throughout life. “For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ’I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people’” (2 Cor. 6:15–17).
Freedom to authentically love others. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God” (1 John 4:7).
Freedom to live out God’s purposes in your life. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2:10).

Freedom to enter the gates of heaven. “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2–3).

In light of this, how then should we live?

In 2nd Timothy 4:1-5, the Apostle Paul admonished the body of Christ (for all believers in Jesus Christ have a ministry to evangelize unbelievers):

"I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."

Evangelism can mean many things to many people. For some, it's something that requires special academic training. For others, it's something only done in a church building or a designated arena. And for some, it evokes emotions of sorrow, guilt and shame for failing to have been a vibrant witness to unbelievers in past years.
"Whoever serves, [let him serve] as one who serves by the strength that God supplies" ( 1 Peter 4:11 ).

We serve. We exert strength. But our serving is the effect of God's gracious power.

"If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen" (Ephesians 6:10).

I understanding that people are looking for answers on when the time will be since we are weary of this evil in this world. Are these the pangs that Christ talked about for the end times? I’m sure it is. When GOD made man, white, black, Asian,- the races, he saw it was good, so it wasn’t the color or the subtle differences of the body in which He made but the Spirit that’s born into that body whether good or evil. In the End of Days, evil will be more abundant as we can see.

Mark 13:28 Now learn the parable of the fig tree, this is the sign that Christ said “ I have foretold you all things” we can discern the times, but for anyone who earnestly studies the Bible, cannot tell you the time, even though Christ has fore told you the season and not to be harvested out of season- the rapture. This parable holds the Key of David which is the door to the knowledge you seek. Which trump are we in? Can a workman discern that, and from there, the secrets or mysteries that are in the Bible, that workman should be able to find rest for their weary mind on guessing when that time will be.

What do you think when eyes melt in the sockets of the skull, is it a nuclear holocaust? It’s stated in the OT. You cannot study without a good Christian teacher and this forum is not the place.

The milk when reading the Bible of GOD’s is the beginning of knowledge and to pray and study for the latter rain which is the touching of GOD to open your eyes to see the Word in God’s bible come alive, which is the meat and more satistifing to find that peace that Christ provides. That’s why they say the Bible is pregnant, because with understanding you can go line to line, precept by precept and find the key of David. This is why I Study exclusively the KJV 1611 with a concordance. In John 14:2 Mansions are not big houses in heaven but an abiding place. In verse 23 Jesus answered and said unto them, If a man love Me, he will keep My words and My Father will love him, and We will come unto Him, and make Our abode with Him.

Abode or abiding place is the Greek word- 3438 ; to stay in a given place, state, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry, thine own. So mansions is a loose interpretation which can mislead people.

Hope people will go back and study themselves to be approved unto GOD. 2 Timothy 2:15

The King James Version 1611 of the Bible (with or without a concordance) is in no way superior to any other Bible version, especially a good study Bible...

John 14:2 Context. 1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions."

KJV Translation Count — 2x. The KJV translates Strongs H1 in the following manner: mansion (1), abode (1) Outline of Biblical Usage. ... from (3306) (μένω); a staying, i.e. residence (the act or the place): — abode, mansion.

This saying of Jesus has confused many because of the King James Version’s rendering of the words “house” and “mansions.” The Greek word translated “house” means “an abode,” literally or figuratively, and, by implication, “a family.” The word translated “mansions” or “rooms” means literally “the act of staying or residing.”

The Holy Spirit can work through any Bible Version, however, to be avoided are those Bible versions produced by known cults - i.e., Jehovah's Witness, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), etc., or the abhorrent, still apostate, splinter groups such as Gerald Flurry, pastor general and the Philadelphia Church of God, (PCG), one of several hundred offshoots that have sprung from Herbert Armstrong's worldwide Church of God - an organization which was known at one time as one of the most destructive pseudo bible-based cults in America, destroying thousands of lives through its mind control methods, while claiming to be "god's one and only restored true Church.

These fall-away, rebellious splinter groups have retained the false teachings of the original Armstrong Worldwide Church of God (anglo-Israelism, et al), even though the original body renounced their founder's false teachings. By the late 1990s the church had dropped all of Armstrong’s unique doctrines, including his British Israelism and his non-Trinitarian theology. After adopting orthodox Christian beliefs, the church was admitted to the National Association of Evangelicals in 1997.

Revelation 3:7
7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith He [Jesus] that is holy, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

What is the key of David?

The key of David (Revelation 3:7) is an Old Testament allusion to the absolute sovereignty of God (Isaiah 22:22). To the godly church at Philadelphia, Jesus is portrayed as holding the key of David to open doors no one can close, and close doors no one can open. Jesus holds this key showing that He alone is the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant, the ruler of the New Jerusalem, and the Lord of the kingdom of heaven.

The Bible emphatically emphasizes the sovereignty of God. He has even ordained the wicked for the day of destruction (Proverbs 16:4). But good things are stored up for the righteous (Romans 8:28; Psalm 37:23). God’s sovereignty works for all people – positively for the righteous (those in Christ), negatively for the wicked (unredeemed).

Again, this saying of Jesus has confused many because of the King James Version’s rendering of the words “house” and “mansions.” The Greek word translated “house” means “an abode,” literally or figuratively, and, by implication, “a family.”

The NIV gets Lucifer the son of the morning and Christ mixed up. Did you spot that. Are you and I the scholar to proof various rendition of printed bibles. Someone omits or adds to GOD’s Bible is in for it, and the student who is mislead by that are in danger, that can only be the beginning being mislead by the Destroyer. That’s why even with all the minor issues that people state, the student can spot mistakes and take the Breath of GOD’s words from the Bible. Strongs Concordance with the KJV 1611 is my choice in studying GODs word.

The book of Isaiah, verse 45:7, states:

“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”

Before either the NIV or the KJV, there are five other Bible versions to which I would give preference, possibly more.

This forum is voluntary. It does not profess to impart any particular degree of any particular discipline to anyone.

We’ll I hope you used GODs Bible to learn because if you choose to ignore omissions of what we spoke about, that leaves you wanting. IMO choosing a simplified Bible that you can’t reference a concordance is short changing the communication in GODs messages. ( would that be laziness because you can’t even make an effort for GOD. ) It Also confusing the children of GOD because you condone confusing omissions, you rather get your information from man than GOD. One Ex. “Got Questions” instead of letting GOD speak to you through His word, Confirm with a 1611 KJV and study concordance. Correct twice, so unfortunately no more pearls for you. Don’t get upset with my response just sharpen your mind to be more outgoing for our Lord and Savior.

And yet, if you were honest, you would admit that all your Parroted arrogant Bible knowledge comes from one MAN……Arnold Murray of Shepherd’s Chapel. So many of your words are exact repetitions of Murray! It’s impossible not to recognize them for anyone who spends even a small amount of time listening to one of Murray’s programs! A man who claims to have been a “doctor” but with no proof of any degrees and a very mysterious past! Zemirah does not depend on Got Questions! LOL! She actually is a scholar of the Bible. She has devoted her entire life to God and her never ending desire for knowledge. I’m the one who relies on GotQuestions for much of my research……and here is the one on your trusted teacher! You should be more careful when you insult and falsely accuse another person, especially when you are guilty of the charge!

Are the teachings of Arnold Murray and Shepherd’s Chapel biblical?
Shepherd’s Chapel, Arnold Murray
ANSWER

Shepherd’s Chapel is a church/ministry in Gravette, Arkansas, USA, known mainly for its television broadcast featuring the Bible teaching of Arnold Murray. Sadly, the teachings of Arnold Murray and Shepherd’s Chapel are full of error.

Murray demonstrated the signs of a false prophet. He maintained attitudes that were disturbingly un-Christlike. Murray’s habit of branding everyone who disagrees with him as a tool of the devil was a telling sign of his theology. Rather than instruct or correct with love and compassion (Galatians 5:22–26), Murray responded with anger, aggressiveness, and secrecy, and he inspired the same contempt and anger in many of his followers.

Murray’s teaching takes verses out of context, which makes it easy to twist their meaning. He talked about original Greek and Hebrew word meanings, but only when he could pick an alternate translation that seemed to support his opinion. When others questioned his conclusions, Murray attacked the questioner rather than defend his view. Murray came to the Bible with his own pre-conceived opinions and then twisted the Word of God to make it fit.

For example, Murray claimed that Cain was actually the son of Eve and Satan—the serpent seed doctrine. He ignored Genesis 4:1 which says, “Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, ‘With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man’” (Genesis 4:1). Adam was Cain’s father, and there is no reason to believe otherwise. Murray also connected the parable of the good and bad seed in Matthew 13 with God’s curse of the serpent in Genesis 3 despite nothing in the context to connect the two passages.

Murray taught that there will be no rapture, despite passages such as 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and 1 Corinthians 15:51–52. As is all-too-common with Arnold Murray, he claimed that 95 percent of churches who teach the rapture will accept the Antichrist as their savior (from a November 1985 newsletter). In this way, Murray effectively denied the salvation of anyone who believes in the rapture. It is unsettling to hear a Bible teacher making such claims about those he disagrees with concerning a non-essential point of eschatology.

Shepherd’s Chapel also teaches modalism, a heretical doctrine that denies the Trinity. Murray taught that “Father,” “Son,” and “Spirit” are different titles that God uses at different times. As God takes on different jobs, He uses various names for Himself. Modalism was condemned as a heresy in the first few centuries of the Christian church. It turns God into a deceiver, because passages such as Matthew 3:16-17 definitely describe the Father, Son, and Spirit interrelating to each other. How can the Father speak in the presence of the Son and the Spirit descend on the Son without it making it appear that the three of them are separate persons?

Murray also subscribed to the Christian Identity Movement, which teaches the British are the real descendants of the ancient Israelites. This movement has been the foundation, fuel, and ammunition for a great deal of racial bigotry. Murray denounced interracial marriages, an unbiblical position that itself wavers on the edge of racism.

In addition to doctrinal errors, Arnold Murray also demonstrated violent personality traits incompatible with the position of church leader. His lack of compassion and condescending references to those who disagree with him were the most noticeable sign of his instability. Christians should be wary of anyone who acts as Arnold Murray did and should avoid any teacher who subscribes to the unbiblical views of Shepherd’s Chapel.

She has devoted her entire life to God and her never ending desire for knowledge. I’m the one who relies on GotQuestions for much of my research……and here is the one on your trusted teacher!

Frank,

Hold onto your Pearls.

I am not restricted to sitting here with a KJV Bible and a concordance, nor is the Holy Spirit restricted. He will work through the Gospel message of Salvation from any Bible version, to whomever He wishes.

A Study Bible is not a "simplified" Bible. It is a Bible with twice the number of pages (usually 2,000 to 2,400 pages) of a "simple" Bible, containing elaborate book introductions, with historical information, dates, names of rulers, geographic detail, etc.; cross referencing, foot notes, explanatory notes, and at the back of the Bible text, a concordance, and/or a Greek and Hebrew lexicon, followed by the customary historical Bible Maps.

If I am thoroughly researching an Old Testament scripture portion, I never confine myself to one version of the Bible; but, if Old Testament, look at the wording in the Greek Septuagint LXXE, the Masoretic Text, the authoritative Hebrew and Aramaic text of the 24 books of the Hebrew Bible, the Aramaic (Syriac) Peshitta, the Samaritan Torah, and the Dead Seas Bible, when applicable.

Twenty feet from my computer desk, are the above referenced resource volumes, plus eighteen additional different Study Bibles, Bible Dictionaries, Bible Handbooks, Bible Concordances, a Geographic Encyclopedia of Ancient Place Names, and hundreds of other Biblical Research resources.

However, initially, people are converted to Jesus Christ by the simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in response to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Then, they will desire to study God's Word in depth.

As the old hymn says: "The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.” When Christians refer to the “Gospel” they are referring to the “good news” that Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for our sin in full, so that we might become the children of God through faith alone, in Christ alone. In short, “the Gospel” is the sum total of the saving truth as God has communicated it to lost humanity as it is revealed in the person of His Son and in the Holy Scriptures, the Bible."

The glorious news announced to mankind of salvation and victory over sin and death that God offers to all people through the person and accomplished work of Jesus Christ on the cross as proven by His resurrection, ascension, and session at God’s right hand is God's message of good news.

I've never heard Arnold Murray speak. He sounds like a real sweetheart!
