I seem to recall a few years back that D. Van Dike has a fire in his Jaguar, although his was a petro car. This is discouraging as I was looking into a solar Panel array with the new technologies for higher output voltages, in-line with those wall battery banks / inverters and deep cycle batteries for good measure, Goal in saving monies with an electric car. Maybe the battery technology will improve in a few years, till then I stick with my gasoline combustion vehicles.

If your house burns down, anyone saying that to you would not sound very comforting now would they ?

You should do a comparison first. Some comparisons between ev and gas show not much difference in overall costs, but others can have a very large difference. The weight of the ev is important....some of them are a lot heavier than gas cars and therefore a bad safety feature. One comparison of a Ford Ranger and F-150 ev showed a difference of 1,000 lbs on their weight (the F-150 ev was the higher weight at 8,500 lbs.). Also mileage...the Ranger gets 468 mpg while the F-150 goes only 230 miles per charge. It's worth it to compare!

Thanks for getting this information out here, I'm leaning to the Cadillac Lyriq but for right now the battery technology is on the verge of pushing the envelope so I'll wait. Thanks again.
