Good thing this was Texas and not New York, although Houston is a Blue City I believe. Well at least this wasn't two years ago when the Democrats anti Police Campaign was in full swing, but I'm sure the Global Warming tire deflate crazies will support the Criminals.

Years ago I was driving through a state that did not require inspections of vehicles. My CV went out and I could not find a place to buy one because in that state when they went out people just took them off and put in extra pipe. My state did have inspections so I had to get one when I got back home.

I read a few books about Russia in the 1970s. They always had an inferiority complex about being as good as the US. Like China today they tended to take short cuts to achieve that. They would ramp up car production as much as possible, but the quality suffered. Of course the quality of American cars in the 1970s was nothing to be proud of.

I was the not so proud owner of a 1970 Dodge Charger and a 1973 Purple Gremlin, bought used. But I digress. Anyway the other problem with Russian automobile ownership of that era was that Russian factories did not turn out enough spare parts. Specifically windshield wipers. Russian car owners always pulled off their wiper blades whenever they publicly parked their cars, because there was a 100 % chance the wiper blades would be stolen. Whenever it rained the drivers would quickly put their wiper blades back on.
