The law was that the president is obligated to pick a Supreme Court justice.
McConnell totally ignored the laws and skipped over Merrick Garland.
This was a constitutional mandate.
So the laws only apply to everyone else .

A Republic is not right or left, it the law of the land - read the Constitution and Declaration. There was no Republican or Democrat party during the founding years. That happened in 1826 D and 1854 R.
The law applies to those that are to represent us - it is their employment contract. However, the American people are too ignorant to know this - they are the boss and enforcers of their given contract.
