Hyper Faith is descended from Metaphysical 19th century, New Thought

The contemporary New Thought movement is a loosely allied group of religious denominations, authors, philosophers, and individuals who share a set of beliefs concerning metaphysics, positive thinking, the law of attraction, healing, life force, creative visualization, and personal power.

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away (apostasy) first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." (2nd Thessalonians 2:3)

Within the Church today, during this foretold period of falling away from the Biblical faith is a revival of 19th century New Thought, now called Hyper Faith, Positive Thinking, Possibility Thinking, Positive Confession, Positive Mental Attitude and Inner Healing.

1 Timothy 4:1 "But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,"

The term, “Hyper-faith” describes that which is blown out of proportion. It is faith that is overstated or is blown out of proportion. It is faith out of balance. “Hyper-faith” is also known as “Word-faith”, “Word of faith”, or the “Faith movement”. It is generally believed that this movement is the fruit of the Charismatic movement or of classic Pentecostalism, however, the roots of this movement and the subsequent accompanying theology trace directly back to the metaphysical and mind-science cults of the 19th century.

It is a grave concern that New Thought, which represents inside the church what New Age does in the secular world, will not be forced out, but will remain within the evangelical congregation, to contribute to the growing confusion and seduction from the Christian faith, as the "Falling Away" escalates.

Word/faith theology is indeed not the gospel of the New Testament, is not the faith once delivered to the saints, and is in fact "another or a different gospel." [Galatians 1:6]

The Bible says in 1st Peter 3:15, "but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect."

This passage addresses the responsibility of every believer.

First, those who have made Jesus the Lord of their lives are always to be prepared to make a defense. This word translated defense is the Greek word, apologia. It is not an apology, but a reasoned, factual defense of one’s opinion, position, or stand. It is an argument in the legal sense.

Apologetics is the art of the defense of the Christian faith. The Holy Spirit, speaking through the Apostle Peter calls each believer to be an apologist, in that sense. Each believer is charged with knowing what they believe, and why it is believed, to the extent that they can make a reasoned defense to anyone who inquires or challenges what they believe.

This passage tells us secondly how we are to make this defense, or rather what our attitude is to be when doing so. We are to do it with gentleness, and respect. Other translations render it meekness and fear, fear and humility, etc. The implication is to approach the defense of the Christian faith with mildness and an awe of the eternal implications involved in doing so.

Even though the Holy Spirit has given these instructions to the Church, many who would refer to themselves as apologists don’t approach their defense of the faith in this manner. Rather they come off as maniacal bullies or Nazis for truth, i.e., a “heresy hunter.”

However, no one really has to hunt heresy. It is very apparent in this hour. The Bible says,

"But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber." [2nd Peter 2:1 – 3]

The Holy Spirit foretold through the Apostle Peter that just as surely as false prophets plagued the Old Testament saints, so they would the New Testament Church. For 2,000 years of Church history, this has been the case, and the deception has grown in frequency and intensity, just as the Lord said it would. [Matthew 24:3 – 8].

To walk free of doctrinal error and deception, you must make it your goal to know your Bible, and to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the great doctrines of the scriptures.
