Now We Know Why Prosecutors Wanted to Keep Jan. 6 Videos Away from the Public

Prosecutors lost a battle to keep some of the 14,000 hours of January 6 surveillance video that was accumulated by the FBI out of the public view. And much to anti-Trump Democrats’ chagrin, social media is already having a field day with it. Buzzfeed’s Zoe Tillman who broke the tough news:

skip

When some of this video made its way into the hands of the public, everyone could see exactly why the prosecution didn’t want it to get out: It doesn’t fit the narrative of the ‘deadly insurrection’ that the fake news media has been propagating. Watch for yourself:

video

Of course, this is just one example clip from the footage released. Zoe Tillman describes the gist of the newest footage release:

The clips cover a period of about 15 minutes on Jan. 6 — between 2:25 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. — in different locations inside the Capitol. They show rioters streaming through open doors and broken windows at an entrance on the Senate side; crowds of people walking into the Crypt, standing in a large crowd, and eventually dispersing; and, finally, rioters exiting as US Capitol Police officers in riot gear gather at the Senate entrance point to stand guard as a mob that’s outside looks in through the broken windows. There is no audio. The cameras are stationed up high and at a distance, providing a wide, stable perspective on the scene.

Tillman is far from a faithful narrator of the footage. She describes the event as an “insurrection,” instead of a riot, although no one has been charged for the “insurrection” and the FBI has not been able to determine that there was any centralized plot to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

There was, indeed, violence in some areas of the Capitol grounds on January 6. But it is not entirely clear that the worst offenders were Trump supporters, rather than anomalous extremists; it appears that the groups are all conflated into a misleading picture of what happened. There were Trump supporters who were merely let into the Capitol building by the Capitol police officers who were supposed to be protecting the building. Many of them merely walked around, took pictures, and protested in a reasonably orderly fashion. This is why many defendants are charged with crimes such as “trespassing” and “parading without a permit.”

It also appears from a time-stamped series of videos based on a restored Parler video archive that the Capitol protests escalated into riots in conjunction with indiscriminate police discharge of pepper spray and stun grenades into the crowd.

The new video release nonetheless provides more evidence that the picture portrayed by the media, that the January 6 riot was an existential threat to the republic, is quite demonstrably a false one. A number of commentators drove this point home:

Why do you insist on calling it an "insurrection" when the FBI report shows clearly it was NOT?
It appears you have gone on a liberal leftist progressive rant.

A federal judge has ordered the release of video footage from inside the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6 after Capitol Police unsuccessfully argued to keep it hidden.

According to Buzzfeed News, the footage was ordered released by U.S. District Chief Judge Beryl Howell, who rejected arguments by the Capitol Police and the U.S. Attorney’s Office that releasing the video would somehow compromise building security.

“In the latest case, prosecutors argued that revealing the location and vantage points of more cameras could help ‘bad actors’ trying to plan some future assault on the building,” Buzzfeed’s Zoe Tillman wrote. But Howell “concluded that argument was too speculative, however, and that the public had a strong interest in seeing videos that formed the basis for a recent plea deal.”

“The clips cover a period of about 15 minutes on Jan. 6 — between 2:25 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. — in different locations inside the Capitol,” Tillman reported. “They show rioters streaming through open doors and broken windows at an entrance on the Senate side; crowds of people walking into the Crypt, standing in a large crowd, and eventually dispersing; and, finally, rioters exiting as US Capitol Police officers in riot gear gather at the Senate entrance point to stand guard as a mob that’s outside looks in through the broken windows.”

Tillman reported that the government referenced the videos in a case against a Tennessee man named Eric Torrens who copped a plea deal with prosecutors Aug. 19, agreeing to one count of parading, picketing, or demonstrating illegally inside the Capitol Building itself, which is a misdemeanor. He admitted to prosecutors that he did enter the building and walked around inside.

In court papers, federal prosecutors said that surveillance cameras in the Capitol captured Torrens’ entry into the building and his movement once inside. Prosecutors also said they had obtained four additional videos tied to Torrens’ case to include one showing him saying, “We’re going in!” Those clips were also released on Tuesday under Howell’s order.

During a plea hearing, Howell “noted that there was a presumption in favor of access to judicial proceedings and that the public had an interest in materials that were submitted in court, that judges relied on in making decisions,” Tillman wrote.

Government prosecutors argued that the surveillance videos should remain hidden from the public because releasing them would “compromise the security of the United States Capitol and those who work there.”

“This footage, when combined with other footage from nearby cameras, could be used to track individual rioters moving through the building thereby creating a visual pathway which other bad actors could use in planning their breach point and pathway for future attacks,” prosecutors noted in court filings.

Howell disagreed, however, and ruled in favor of attorneys representing a group of media organizations that had sued for the release of the footage, rejecting the government’s national security claims. Also, the attorneys noted that prosecutors had selectively released surveillance footage in other cases related to the Jan. 6 riot.

“Hundreds of cases have arisen from the events of January 6, with new cases being brought and pending cases being resolved by plea agreement every week,” Howell noted in her ruling. “The public has an interest in understanding the conduct underlying the charges in these cases, as well as the government’s prosecutorial decision-making both in bringing criminal charges and resolving these charges by entering into plea agreements with defendants.”

A clip that Tillman posted online shows crowds of people streaming into the Capitol Building, some through windows that had been broken out. The people depicted in the video footage do not appear violent.

Police escorts receive chartered Antifa buses in D.C. ahead of Jan. 6 Trump rally

A shocking video has surfaced – watch below – that shows law enforcement in Washington, D.C., escorting chartered Antifa buses into our nation’s capital just days before the scheduled Trump rally on Jan. 6.

This same footage was uploaded to YouTube before being quickly removed, by the way. Thankfully, we were able to capture and upload it to Brighteon.com before it disappeared. Watch for yourself as patriots in D.C. show how the police, whom many conservatives support, side with leftist extremists who are presumably being bused in to wreak havoc and inflict violence on supporters of President Donald Trump.

The first part of the video is from NewsClips, which wanted to draw attention to the footage at the latter portion of the video. Since those who captured it have smaller followings, NewsClips is aiming to get the word out, as are we, about what could be brewing in the capital.

“I’m sitting up on summit, and one marked state trooper vehicle, two black SUVs, there’s three state trooper vehicles escorted four Antifa shuttle buses right here, front and center,” the man who captured the footage is heard stating.

“There was actually five vehicles total – three upfront, two in the back – they escorted right here, waited for them to get off their buses, then state troopers unloaded and took their positions.”

Another man then responds that each of the buses is labeled, adding that “they’re all paid charter buses.”

“They escorted them here!” shouts another, referring to the police officers who were complicit in rolling out the red carpet for Antifa just days before the D.C. Trump rally.

As you may recall, President Trump back in the summer declared Antifa to be a domestic terrorist organization, which means the “thin blue line,” at least in D.C., has joined up with terrorists in the fight to steal the election for Joe Biden.

Our hope is that nothing becomes of this Antifa convergence, and that the scheduled Trump rally is safe and successful. With police backing, however, there is no telling what Antifa might try to do as it is emboldened with the support of the state to act as aggressors against those who are gathering in the District in support of the republic.

While it is certainly within the realm of possibility that those who captured this footage are mistaken as to the true identities of those on the chartered buses – why would they be clearly labeled as Antifa? – the arrival of these vehicles with a police escort is ominous.

“We already know that these people are being well-funded for their activities,” states the NewsClips host towards the end of the clip about Antifa’s deep state backing.

Without knowing for sure what might be brewing, we are asking our readers to pray for safety, not only for the president but also for the tens of thousands, if not millions, of people who will be present in D.C. on the 6th to support him.

You are wasting your time, Ginny. Salt has been claiming multiple police were killed ever since January 6. He has been corrected over and over, and proof provided, which he just ignores, then repeats the lies again a month or two later. He is so consumed by hatred that he has no sense left in his head. He will give all the supposed reasons he hates Trump, but don't let him fool you. He started out hating Trump, and spends his time looking for things to justify his hatred, and it doesn't matter in the slightest whether they are true or not. He is just another progressive who has to rationalize his anger and hatred, and lies work as well as anything else.

They've downgraded it to a "riot" - which is a long way from insurrection.
