While the USA spends trillions on higher education students leave college with little to no knowledge of CIVICS. Therefore, they are uneducated relative to this subject. What kind of government will we have if illiterate college kids vote. You guessed it, OBAMA.

It has long been my contention that ALL seniors in EVERY high school in the United States should be required to take U S Government. My choice for senior year is based on the fact the students will shortly be registering to vote and having this knowledge can only be beneficial to the country.

Every election I thank my lucky stars for my progeny's US Government teacher. He required every student to read The Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, Constitution, Federalist papers and all other such documents helping to establish our Republic. He made no political pontifications, only taught the documents. To this day, the AP text for US Government and all related course materials are in our home. THANK YOU DR. Szymonik for making my progeny fully knowledgeable on our government foundations! :!: :!:

Too bad we don't have more Dr. Szymoniks in our schools but I fear that most of those we have these days have never really studied the Constitution and sure as hell haven't read the Articles of Confederation. When you have teachers who know so little about this subject you won't find them taking any pains to teach about it.

The numbers in that poll the link was about are very scary. I don't know what kind of people were polled but so few of them knew about the other freedoms listed in the First Amendment and that tells me that the Glorious Leader and his people can continue to sweep away the rest of those freedoms with great ease.

Be somewhat happy. He continues to teach and puts out 75 students per year grounded in our basic fundamentals. What they do is not up to us; however, they at least have been taught. You have no idea how very hard core he is on the subject. My progeny had him sophomore year for AP European History. Perhaps a tad to young for an AP Course and struggled slightly. The next year they attempted to move yea progeny to another teacher. Said progeny literally stormed the Principal's Office and informed him, "I will take no history course from anybody else. Move me now." The only thing saving yea child's young derrière for such disrespect was a lot of students did not want Dr. Szymonik, and the fact I was so active in parental organizations. They tried to explain they felt because of the past year struggle, yea progeny may have wanted another teacher, and they were told "Him or no one!". The teacher actual gave us a pocket size copy of the Constitution as a graduation gift. It sits next to a laptop at all times in the charming (not) progeny's room.

Once again this situation is the result of the teachers and DOE that do not believe in the Constitution, therefore why teach it? These people have been "brainwashing" our children for years! Many of these children grew up with no knowledge of what made the Constitution so important to a "free" society and how it played a part in making America the greatest country on earth (at one time). I'm sure that when many "liberal" educators teach about the Constitution, they teach that crap about how it's a "living, breathing document" that can be interpreted in many different ways (to fit the liberal agenda) and how it's "outdated" to govern today's society. Many of the laws passed in the last 20 years have nothing to do with the Constitution and everything to do with political correctness. I believe that many of the people surveyed responded in that manner because they confused the First Amendment with political correctness. If educators (for the most part) taught what the intent of the Constitution was, they would be surprised and more efficiently educated. However, that would mean exposing these "children" to the Federalist Papers, our founding fathers, etc. Educators should be required to read "Thomas Jefferson and James Madison's Guide to Understanding and Teaching the Constitution". Students should be made aware of not just what the Constitution says, but also the reasons for saying it!

That's a great idea, but the left will never let it happen. The left has Karl Marx's plan, which is take over all the schools and teach what Karl likes and they have been doing it for 50 years. Has anyone noticed? Not many have......

Right on the money. When I was in the eighth grade in California it was required to pass the US Constution test (200 questions) to be able to go to high school. And US Government Class was manditory in your senior year.
As far as the First Amendment and those 34% goes. They need to read the "Bill of Rights" along with the US history to get the right perspective on what is going on. It's beautiful isn't it. The First Amendment gives them the right to say what they are saying. But we must be vigilant in defending these "Rights", to loose one is to loose them all. Then the document is nothing more than a piece of paper.
And to quote the author Craig Johnson-"Stay Calm, Have Couage, and wait for signs.

Trillions? Every 20 years? Every 30 years?
Your remarks are not valid since they lack accuracy.

Trillions? Over 20 years? 30 years? 5 years?
Your claim is invalid. It contains no solid facts.
