Tell-All Authors Confronted Donald Trump On His Lies And He Replied With 1 Word

Lee Moran; Tue, July 20, 2021

Former President Donald Trump had a surprisingly candid response when challenged over the tens of thousands of lies he told during his time in office, according to the author of a new tell-all book.

“We asked him why, as president, he thought it was OK for him to continually tell the American people things that were not true, to lie again and again and again,” Washington Post journalist Philip Rucker recalled of interviewing Trump on Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“And he said to us, ‘You know, there’s a beautiful word, and it’s called disinformation*,’” Rucker said.

Rucker and fellow Post journalist Carol Leonnig sat down with Trump at his private Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, in March for their book documenting the last months of his presidency. The tell-all, titled “‘I Alone Can Fix It’: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year,” was released Tuesday.

When asked why Trump bothered to do the interview, given his attacks on the media in general and the Post in particular, Leonnig suggested that the former president knew he was addicted to the attention.

”It is a sickness in some respects,” she said. “However, I would argue part of the reason he sat with us for so long is because we were eager to hear his explanations ... his narrative of this incredible, consequential and ultimately catastrophic year. We wanted him to have a chance to explain that.”

Trump’s main grievances centered on “how often people around him failed him,” she added. “I think it’s so interesting his narrative is basically that he alone was the brilliant genius and everyone else was an enemy or a weak, paltry stand-in.”

*disinformation; NOUN - false information which is intended to mislead, especially propaganda issued by a government organization to a rival power or the media. Synonyms: lie · falsehood · fib · fabrication · deception · made-up story · trumped-up story · fake news · invention · fiction · piece of fiction · falsification · falsity · cock and bull story · barefaced lie · (little) white lie · half-truth · exaggeration · prevarication

Trumps disinformstion is no different than many a President had to put out.. Either for keeping everyone guessing or enemies from getting info to turn around use it against us or to the many Backstabbing politicians working against the president whether it be Trump or any of the others... Remember his comment “you never give your enemies the upper hand”it really is relevant to that.

No one knew what the man was doing until he did it a required strategy in the White House of leakers, cheaters and liars too...

There may be some truth to that, L-J. But, no president but Trump has ever put out a 'Big Lie' of such proportion as presidential election fraud disputing national and/or state-by-state results. Trump stands alone in that regard.

Amen. If Trump has an attention addiction, couldn’t the same be said about the press.

I would suggest it has been resolved, yet simply not accepted by die-hard Trump supporters who choose to believe The Big Lie.

Good Morning to you this fine day of sun and fun..

The media has to be doing all they can to try and dissuade the over all populace who view them as nothing but liars, enablers and attention seekers given their overall poor viewership.. Don’t you just love how they are all saying now, “just the facts or want the truth we're here “etc.Truly pathetic... But expected...

You're an ignorant fool.
There is more to an honest and fair election than counting votes.
The deep state media and liberal press did their very best to give Biden a free pass and crucify Trump at every opportunity. Giving false poll numbers and misleading political donors.
Then came executive actions by Democrat governors to change voting processes...big BS.
The sad part is you actually think you're helping America..
