I have to admit being somewhat repulsed initially but also fascinated. The obstacles she had to overcome were, I felt, well beyond me. And then to get up on stage before hundreds in the audience and maybe millions of TV viewers was extraordinary; I want to hide on a bad hair day. I started crying as soon as she started singing. I think that if her voice was a squeak, I would have loved her, but it wasn't. In a word, she was divine, moving me to the depth of my soul. The barest element in her performance was the grace of the Holy Spirit. No one could do what she did on their own strength. God was on that stage for all to see. It was very humbling and uplifting. She is a miracle.
